Hopefully that get the message across to all other would be flare throwers out there that it is not acceptable.

Did anything ever happen the the away supporters who threw flares at our ground?

It wasn't a flare, it was a crappy smoke bomb that didn't hold up play, they had three or four go off in their end as well. Seems harsh for what it actually was.

Wow, was it a grenade?! Agree with Flyer - a tad too harsh.

Far too harsh a punishment. You'd swear he lobbed bomb on the pitch

Got off lightly. If you are stupid enough to throw objects onto the pitch you deserve everything coming your way.

"...Jack Robert Parkin was given the flare by a fellow fan as he entered the Huish Park ground"

He couldn't even be sure what he threw in the first place ffs! Could have been anything. Lucky it was only a smoke bomb, something more serious and people could have been seriously hurt.

Sends a message, definitely needed after all that has been thrown onto pitches so far this season.

Normally I would have zero sympathy for people who behave like that at matches.

In this instance, he sounds like a decent fella who did something stupid that was out of character.

The punishment is way over the top.

    I feel for him.

The bloke is an idiot, does it really matter if it was a flame or smoke bomb? What if it was a coin or glass..

Dont think anything should be thrown on the pitch TBH !

Punishment might be harsh, but tough s**t. Shouldnt have done it in the first place then he wouldnt have got caught

Dont do the crime...and all that!

Of course it matters, a flare is dangerous if it lands in the crowd, a weak smoke bomb is not. At least 3 or 4 went off that day and play wasn't even stopped once.
