Queens Park Rangers are still hopeful of signing Rennes midfielder Yann MâVila and will offer Samba Diakite as part of the deal. Rangers have already had a £6.5million bid rejected for MâVila, who, it is understood, does not to want to move to Loftus Road. However, manager Harry Redknapp is not giving up and Diakite, who has struggled since joining on a permanent transfer from Nancy last summer having initially joined on loan 12 months ago, could be going in the opposite direction. MâVila (above), 22, is keen to leave the French club and has been linked with Russian side Zenit St Petersburg. Rennes sporting director Pierre Dreossi admits MâVila could be heading to England or Russia this month but insists the France international will only be sold for the right price. Dreossi said: âHe feels like leaving but it is not a priority for us to sell. If he has to leave, he will leave. But if it is not worth it for him or for us, he will stay until the end of the season. It is all moving towards England or Russia.â
Hard to blame any guy with ambition for being reluctant to sign for a bottom of the table club and more likely than not to be relegated. Harry doesn't appear to fancy Diakite. He looked like a real prospect and if he wasn't looking to leave I would like to see him stay.
