QPR defender thinks he is staying - but reveals it's not his decision 14:00, 9 June 2015 By Paul Warburton Onuoha offers insight into transfer thinking please log in to view this image QPR defender Nedum Onuoha insists he has no say whether he stays or goes. The defender joked that if the club wanted he could end up being shopped out to some far, flung foreign shore like the ‘Turkish Super League, fifth division.’ He added: “The final decision always rests with the club. “I’ve struggled to see players over the years create a move for themselves just because the club has gone down. “You can never pinpoint what happens next. please log in to view this image Flare up: Not the 'fifth division', Nedum, but Super League derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce “I want to be in the Premier League - it’s why I came to the club, and I’ve played in the Championship. But while you’re under contract, the club can ask you to play in the Turkish Super League, fifth division, or something." The 28-year-old has another year left on his deal, but offered a fascinating insight into how footballers think when a club gets relegated as they plot the next move. Onuoha said: “If you are at the very peak of your career then it’s different. "But others who are a bit older and happy just to play football, and they have families that are happy in the area and stable think a different way, perhaps. “I have another year, so I’m still here for another year.”
Can't imagine that's many potential suitors for Onouha Good athlete but far too many improvements needed on the technical side of his game. Championship is his level in my opinion, his speed can atone for his errors. Can't get away with that in the Prem.
He sounds like footballers should do if they didn't have the greedy agents. I like Ned and he'll always do his bit wherever he's asked to play. He's definitely a CB for me.
This all day long. Like Nedum but like some others doesn't seem to really turn it on in the Prem. Will do a job in the Championship due to the poor players
Surely we should either offer him a new contract or get a couple of quid for him if he has only a year to go? Nice bloke, but no longer young enough to think he will ever get any better. Good luck either way.
I'd sooner be rid of him. I think he is a player who has certainly served the club well, but he's been apart of 2 relegation sides and I think we need to break the habit and be rid of him. I agree with Escape Goat, I can't see us selling him to a prem team and championship is his level. Problem is, we need to replace him before we sell him.
Agree, at this stage in his career, the Championship is the right level for him, preferably as a CB, rather than a RB.
