I don't know about you but I was checking the transfers on deadline day and I was a little dissepointed as we were a bit quiet. Then we signed Bennett from posh and my first thought was, who is he, what position does he play and is he any good? On the other hand QPR were signing some big names like Zamora and Onuoha. And my instant reaction was, that I thought they would make their way out of the relegation zone fairly quickly and even overtake us. I was also being "assured" from my QPR supporting mate that this would happen due to the "stellar" signings that they had made during the transfer window. Boy has Tony Fernandez got it all wrong! Look at us now, almost safe, QPR loosing week in week out. It's looking bad for QPR now, all that stands between them almost certain bankruptcy in the championship is the 3 teams below them that have shown that they are experts in dodging the bullet season after season.
It was always going to happen. They removed a good championship level manager and replaced him with a manager who, despite his reputation has done bugger all at every club he's been at. They've thrown good money after bad and bought 'named' Premier League players who have flopped and flattered to deceive at every club they've been at. Norwich and Swansea tried a different approach that was always going to be a win/win situation. If they stay up fantastic, if they don't then the gamble didn't pay off but their OK financially. Mark Hughes and the bulk of the QPR squad will bugger off if they go down at the end of the season.
QPR have signed a bunch of overrated players. Players like Barton, Wright-Phillips, Kenny, Zamora, Cisse, Traore and Anton Ferdinand to name a few.
Their pathetic ACON excuses are the funniest... Take a bad apple out of the cart, and no difference as all the remaining ones are bad too...analogy
Barton and SWP - Signed when they were the best we could get and any Rangers fan would bite your hand off. Kenny - He was our player of the year last season? Traore - Never rated befor he came as he hadn't played much, but done alright. Cisse - Been our best player when he's played but then he got himself sent off Zamora - I was against this signing and I fear you may be right. Anton - Pretty average. Although I agree that our signings haven't been very good or worked out well, it wasn't cos we 'signed a bunch of overrated players'.
They weren't overrated, Zamora I grant you, and I guess SWP and Barton but given the scenario at the time you couldn't blame them.
Those seven players alone (six of which are massively over-rated in proportion to what they earn in my opinion, Kenny is a good keeper) will almost certainly be earning the combined salary of our entire first team squad - who are currently 14 points ahead of you with a game in hand and the chance to go within a point of Liverpool tomorrow if you hadn't noticed Good luck with that
Make your mind up fella My point is that Kenny won't be on massive wages in relation to the others on the list, none of whom would be on less that 40k a week I wouldn't imagine, Traore possible exception, though bet he's on more than Grant "eleven goals and counting" Holt
I said that about Kenny in reply to someone who was saying that this season we bought over-rated players this season and he used Kenny as an example, I was correcting him. Kenny's been more out of his depth this season though.
feel for rangers fans thier club has been hijacked by a fool who knows nothing about football and thinks you can buy success, he has proved that what money can do is turn a team that took the CCC with ease last year into a flop this year poor signings low morale etc. What is going to happen when he gets bored and runs off with his cheque book??
A problem they have is they brought in a load of players that only care about themselves. If QPR go down they will all jump ship. Most of their players do not have the heart that our players do. Norwich and Swansea have a lot more continuity in their squad and set up. You can't buy team spirit. Sacking Colin was a silly decision too. I still think he would have kept QPR up.
Don't worry, as they keep reminding us that when TF buggers off they still have mittal... The richest man in the UK or what ever he is! Don't understand why they haven't put more money in if there that rich and fully commited to the cause. I do fear for there fans cause I hate seeing any club go to the wall, but if they do go down then the consiquences could be huge!
Is it true that Tony Fernandez was looking to buy City? I am so relieved that we have Delia! There was a period not that long ago where I felt she was holding the club back. I am happy to admit that I was wrong and I am so pleased that she rebuffed TF. We could be like QPR now, thank god we are not. Imagine the wage bill if they do go down. It makes me shudder thinking that it could of been us.
I remember a QPR fan saying that their signings were so much better then our League One signings Morrison and Pilkington. x 10!
