QPR close in on former Ipswich goalkeeper Murphy Ian Cooper, QPR correspondent Wednesday, July 20, 2011 10:58 AM QPR are closing in on the signature of former Ipswich Town goalkeeper Brian Murphy. Your viewEmailPrintGot a story? Rs boss Neil Warnock is keen to add strength in depth to his squad, and confirmed to the Times on Tuesday that 28-year-old Murphy, who left the Portman Road club in May and is now a free agent, joined up with the squad for their pre-season trip to Cornwall. Murphy made 20 appearances for Ipswich last season would provide competition for places with Radek Cerny and Paddy Kenny, and the managerâs priority will now be ensuring that he keeps hold of Kenny, who was superb between the sticks last year but who is yet to renew his contract on new terms. Also joining up with the Super Hoops on trial is Danny Gabbidon, the former West Ham United centre-back, who said he was âimpressedâ with Warnockâs vision for the club. The Wales international is yet another free agent and could represent a good piece of business for Warnock, although the boss insisted that talks were still at an early stage. âWeâre just looking at Danny,â he said. âI spoke to him last week and told him to come to Cornwall â thereâs no pressure down there.â please log in to view this image
God knows, his performance versus Leeds would full you with dread at the thought of Kenny getting injured and having to play him in the Premiership.
Are we open to offers Re. Paddy?? We dont need 3 keepers + Putins. This smells of asset stripping by the twats. Sell everything of value, poket the cash then sell to the highest bidder. We went out and spent last summer. £1m on Tarb, £1m on Smith, £750k on Kenny, Bag of peanuts on Hulse etc etc... Why are we not spending now? The only cash transaction we have been involved in was Legs to Reading for £1m!! All is not rosey in the garden i think.
What crap did Warnock sell to Bothroyd and Dyer to get them to sign? Can't blame Taarabt for wanting to leave with all that is going on (or lack of it) at the club.
