Soccerex has announced that Queens Park Rangers (QPR) CEO Philip Beard will speak at the European Forum in March. Beard will join a session looking at club ownership and the impact financial fair play will have on the opportunities and potential benefits for owners going forward. With the initial phases of financial fair play implementation underway, the Soccerex European Forum will host a number of sessions looking at various areas affected by UEFAâs new policy, such as club ownership, stadia, sponsorship and player development. In his role as CEO of QPR, a club which has had a series of high profile owners and investors in recent times, Beard is perfectly placed to speak on the subject and will give a unique insight into the plans of the Barclays Premier League club under new owner and chairman, Tony Fernandes. Prior to joining QPR, Beard worked for US music and sports giant AEG where he spent two years as chief executive of the O2 Arena, leading the transformation of the London venue from the Millennium Dome into one of the worldâs most popular music and sports facilities. Before joining AEG, Beard was one of the directors of Londonâs successful bid for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Soccerex CEO, Duncan Revie, said: âFinancial fair play is the buzz word of European football at present but it is still not clear what implications it is going to have. Philâs role at QPR coupled with his vast experience in the industry makes him the perfect person to give opinion on the matter.â In addition to financial fair play, the European Forum conference programme will also address the latest developments relating to UEFA, along with betting, emerging markets, clubs, stadia safety and the future of league structures. The 2012 Soccerex European Forum will be held in Manchester from March 28-29.
North, it is still like a dream sometimes. I wonder if we will end up looking back on the Flav / Bernie era with rose tinted spectacles? They did save the club from administration, afterall. Unfortunately all the carp after wards probably outweighs their initial good deed.
I for one will always be grateful to the pair that saved our club ... They found out quickly exactly how ungrateful and fickle football fans are plus exactly how low English culture has slumped . The same about players like Taarabt TF remember has done this like all business men for business and to raise his business profile and portfolio I am very grateful to all that have helped QPR I wish one day that people on our forum will be big enough to say when they are wrong and we can all move forward united 8th no more no less
