QPR chief plays down Granero speculation

Esteban GraneroHARRY Redknapp has told Esteban Granero to forget about a move away from Loftus Road and to concentrate on their survival bid.

The Spanish midfielder joined Rangers from Real Madrid in the summer in a deal that could rise up to £9million.

However, Granero has already been touted for a cut-price move from the R's, with Fiorentina the latest side to be linked.

However, boss Redknapp has rubbished the reports and insists the 25-year-old is part of his plans in W12.

He said: “I don't know anything about that.

“I'm not looking to get rid of anyone at the moment - we need all hands on deck.

“Every agent is putting things about, but they've just to get on doing well for QPR.

“If they all play to their potential then we won't have a problem. They can't be thinking about their next move.

“This is the club they belong to. They need to play well here and we'll look at that in the future.”

That's it, you tell 'em 'Arry.

As for Granero, can't see how it is so many of us on here have included EG among our lazy mercenary brigade. Total quality and committed battler when he believes. Suffered from the final days of Hughes like we all did.

Whilst I prefer M'bia and Diakite as combined or alternating DCMs atm looking to dig out a first 3 points, I really think with a bit of confidence in the side, the way forward thereafter will be via a Granero and Faurlin combo.

In that sense, it would be a disaster if Granero left - unless of course it bought us an ace predatory youngish striker.

Did anyone see the Redknapp press conference when the reporter asked him about Granero?

I thought HR looked a bit uncomfortable and was very swift with his answer, almost before the question ended. Perhaps he was merely annoyed that rumours were flying around; though the opposite might be true, also.
