QPR chairman Tony Fernandes insists that the clubâs commercial interests in Asia will have no bearing on any further signings this summer. A hugely successful pre-season tour of the Far East, coupled with the signing of Ji-Sung Park from Manchester United, has allowed Fernandes to successfully establish the QPR brand in Asia. The Rs have also shown interest in Celticâs South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung, and face competition from Arsenal to secure the 23-year-oldâs services. However, the chairman insists that manager Mark Hughes will have the final say on any more new arrivals. âWeâre not going to sign a player if it doesnât make sense to the manager,â Fernandes said. âI own an airline which flies to Korea and is having huge growth in Korea, but thatâs a bonus â a fantastic icing on the cake. âLet me make it clear that weâre not going to sign a player just because itâs good for AirAsia or our sponsors.â
