QPR boss won't dismiss League Cup like Warnock
Aug 27 2012 By Jacob Murtagh

MARK Hughes insists he will take QPR's League Cup campaign seriously – unlike former boss Neil Warnock.

Warnock made eight changes as Rangers were dumped out of the competition with an embarrassing defeat to League One Rochdale last term.

However, the axed R's chief insisted he was pleased they no longer had to bother with the contest.

QPR begin their Capital One Cup challenge at home to lowly Walsall in the second round tomorrow night.

But Hughes has vowed he wouldn't dismiss the competition like previous regimes.

He said: “That's not the policy now. We're up against lower-league opposition, we're at home and it's important we progress.

“There's only so many competitions where there's a likelihood that you might be able to progress and possibly win – and there's no chance of doing that by fielding a weakened side."
