QPR boss explains Taarabt absence at comeback game Oct 31, 2014 06:00 By Paul Warburton Moroccan midfielder apologised to Harry Redknapp and training with first team Adel Taarabt was pencilled in for an U21 outing at QPR on Tuesday but was nowhere to be seen. Boss Harry Redknapp included the midfielder in a game against Swansea at Harlington following the infamous public spat between the two over Taarabtâs lack of fitness. But Redknapp explained the player had been to see him this week and admitted he could have done better to make himself available for first-team selection. âOn Monday, he apologised,â said Redknapp. âHe knows what he said (in newspaper interviews) wasnât right, but people put him up to it. "He admitted he needed to get fitter. He wants to get back in the team. and thatâs all I needed to hear from him. I didnât want to stick him in amongst the kids for the U21 game. âHe worked very hard with the first team group, and I was pleased with the chat I had with him. âHeâs got fantastic ability. Itâll be a waste as heâs got real talent. Heâs worked all week with us and heâll get himself fitter and fitter.â Redknapp also reflected on one of his loan players last season he believes is headed for the wasted talent tag like Taarabt unless he turns his career around. âRavel Morrison should be playing for England,â added the manager. âHeâs got to produce it. When I worked with him I thought he was one of the most talented footballers Iâve seen. He should be playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid. Itâs sad. Itâs a shame.â
