Bartonâs £70,000-a-week wages have been the stumbling block to any exit, with last seasonâs loan club Marseille demanding he takes a 60 per cent cut in exchange for a permanent deal. The playerâs boyhood idols Everton were also sounded out, but there were no takers at Goodison either. However, Harry Redknapp believes he may only have Barton (pic) for another couple of weeks. He said: âWhere theyâre big earners you have to balance the books, and thatâs what weâre doing. âI think Joey would have gone to Marseille, but Iâm not sure what the deal is with them. Heâs enjoying playing, showing great enthusiasm. âIf he wanted to go, I would say good luck to him.â The once bad boy at Loftus Road has been more saint than sinner under his new manager who admits he would be happy to keep him if there are no takers. Redknapp said: âJoeyâs playing ever so well, heâs in the team on merit, heâs been excellent. âNot only has he been good as a player, heâs not been a minuteâs problem as a person. it's the money that we cannot afford to spend, whether Barton is a Saint or sinner. I read somewhere on another thread someone having a go at Remy for not sticking around and helping us out. It's the same thing, they need to get these players off the wage bill. Unfortunate, but true.
No problem with him going but we're getting towards the end of the window and hes playing well. I would prefer a replacement signed before he departs He has been playing well
Yep, definitely, put himself in the window to be signed by someone else..my worry is that if he doesn't go, will he revert to his old self? Come on Fulham, you can have this one too if you want !
Come on Fulham, you can have this one too if you want ![/QUOTE] we only want the players you want, not the ones you don't want, I will give you 10k if barton plays for ffc this season, there is more chance of ffc winning the league
“If he wanted to go, I would say good luck to him.” So that's it his staying , when has Harry got something right when quoting on players
