Our new mod, Goldhawk, and I have largely agreed and prepped ourselves re. the purpose, approach and technical abilities needed to keep us organised going forward. In order to ensure we don't try to fix what ain't broke, we have only slightly re-organised things. This thread is to keep you all informed of our general plan and give you the chance to comment if you want to. Light Touch Moderation Whist we have a set of house or ground rules to guide us (accessible via my signature), we will avoid applying them unless we feel it is absolutely essential in a particular case. Our purpose is to keep things informative and generally respectful. Moderator Availability As with other boards on this site, we as mods will not be around 24/7. We will however, look in from time to time to carry out such actions as deemed necessary within the context of light touch moderating. Goldhawk will tend towards attending the earlier parts of the day; and I will tend towards later periods. What Needs Moderating? As far as this is concerned, our default would be 'little if anything'. Member Notifications / Complaints We will tend to rely on members PM-ing BOTH of us where they feel we ought to intervene. If we can see good reason to act, we will do so according to the following options: posted interventions - either posting on the thread itself to defuse or redirect subject matter and/or tone; PM'd interventions - sending a PM to a member(s) pointing out general guidelines and/or cautions; closing threads - usually threads repeating points already made or generally becoming tedious; deleting threads - usually wum / abusive threads or similar; and merging threads - invariably threads addressing similar topics. Issuing 'Bans' etc. Not something we'll want to be doing often. There are temporary and permanent bans to be issued in cases that threaten to disrupt the reasonable tone of the forum in general. Such action requires the involvement of site management. QPR News Items For these, we will be looking for greater input from members: 999, Norway and Taarabt in My Kitchen have all shown willing to provide these essential services. For those also willing but who wouldn't know where to start, TIMK offers the following advice. In terms of keeping up with news and information on QPR from the wonderful world of the internet we'll all need to chip-in. I've actually got a top-tip for any would-be posters of news, which is to type in "QPR news now" into Google. On the first result which comes up you'll find the News Now website, which provides constantly update links to anything QPR related which has been posted to anywhere on the worldwide web in the last 15 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour 2 hours etc. It's well handy for keeping on top of any news and/or rumours pertaining to our beloved hoops! http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Foo...ier League/QPR That's about it for now. We welcome your thoughts. Cheers
****ing hell - i thought the actual QPR board of directors was being reorganized!!! It all sounds good to me. The only point i would make is that members should at least try and have a go at pointing out any issues they see on the thread themselves before running off to PM the mods. But i guess some will prefer not to do this so. Good luck Brix and Goldhawk its still a shame about Northy though.
Sounds good Brix! When I have time I will input any news I see that doesn't appear to have got on the Forum. Time is something I don't have too much of these days, but that may change...
Good stuff Brix. That all seems crystal clear to me, and as with all your posts is thoroughly fair and reasonable too.
Again, thank you Brix for the effort and thanks to Goldhawk for volunteering. As I've said before, we tend to behave pretty decent on our board. It's only the cross board threads that sometimes gets out of hand. But as you say, the key is self moderation. Here's to a succesful second half of the season, both on the pitch and on this board.
If it helps there are a few types of ban if needed. I can at the request of your mods.. Block a user from your board, this is more and more the way mods are going, they have full access to the forum just not your board. Temp ban from one day up, used when a user is in need of cooling down and for warnings. Full ban is for the real trouble makers. We ban very few users.
Brix has set out our proposed approach admirably. We are here to serve the members, facilitate the smooth running of the board and resolve the (hopefully occasional) problem. Cannock's right, most problems can be resolved by members. And Norway's right too, that members on the QPR board behave decently. The Board's success comes from all of us, and it's really helpful when members take the initiative and post press articles etc. It was also great to see members taking the time to welcome new members to the board (something the much-missed Northolt was good at). Now I'll get down to learning the technical stuff. I apologise in advance for any errors I make over the coming weeks while still a rooky -Brix tells me most can be undone, which is a comfort!
It all sounds good to me Brixton. It's nice to hear that were going to be trusted. I will of course ( along with Norway & TIMK , and I'm sure many others.) keep searching for good Rangers related material to keep us all tuning-in. Once again, all the best mate.
