http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-make-bid-for-nottingham-forest-defender Jamalle Lascelles.. he was on the pitch when we put 5 past them, but actually scored their equaliser before we took over Young, linked previously with Liverpool and Arsenal Whats not to like???? Pearce won't let him go...and he signed a new contract only a few months ago...no chance
Whether it happens or not, this is a good sign. I think our best chance of recruiting quality is the youngsters who the big teams circle around but never actually make a significant move to sign. I seem to remember we did that with Sinclair in the mid 90s to our benefit.
Mirror "" Jul 02, 2014 16:06 By James Nursey Defender expected to leave relegated Cardiff is also interesting Palace and Liverpool but England stalwart may prove Redknapp's trump card Share Share Tweet +1 Email Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images Wanted: Steven Caulker signed for Cardiff for £8million from Tottenham Harry Redknapp aims to persuade Steven Caulker to join QPR by dangling the incentive of partnering Rio Ferdinand. MirrorSport understands Ferdinand, 35, has already signed for newly-promoted Rangers following the expiration of his contract with Manchester United. That move is to be confirmed soon and QPR boss Redknapp is now hoping to recruit Caulker, who worked under him at Tottenham, from relegated Cardiff. The 22-year-old, who has one England cap and was in the GB 2012 Olympics squad, also has Crystal Palace after him and Liverpool are monitoring him, too. Caulker is reluctant to decide his future while there is also a possibility of linking up with Kop boss Brendan Rodgers again. He got his first big break in the top-flight playing under Rodgers on loan at Swansea - from Redknapp's Spurs - and a move to Champions League-bound Liverpool is his preference. If a switch to Anfield fails to materialise, he is likely to sign for the Hoops to work for Redknapp. Caulker has a release clause in his contract after joining the Welsh club a year ago from Spurs for £8million. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...-pursuit-steven-caulker-3800341#ixzz36KNkZQbw Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook "
Thought he actually had a decent game despite them conceding 5 against us....caused us a few problems from corners, but then again who didn't that day!!!!
Big prospect, very promising CB. Exactly the type we should try to sign. Lascelles, Caulker and Rio and we're set in the centre back department. Onuoha to fight it out with those three and still provide cover for the right back position. Now bring in Aaron Cresswell at left back and our defence is set.
Northolt⚽QPR ‏@Northolt_QPR Another young player we're trying to sign? The anti 'arry mob will have to change the record if this carries on!! #QPR
I'm glad to say that all the mere speculations has us lining up bids with the wrong kinds of players but all the articles that say we've actually made a move for someone are quoting players of the right sort. We could have a very good, hungry team soon if a few of these come true. Still, let's not get ahead of ourselves!
I'd refuse to believe they were his signings, he wants the likes of Parker, Ferdinand etc and wanted bridge last year. Do you honestly think Yun was a Redknapp signing? The reason he wasn't played is because Redknapp didn't want to play someone who wasn't his signing. TF wants the younger players. That's been confirmed by the local papers.
So you've just proved Norways point -no matter what happens it will never be due to Redknapps unless its negative!
We've already given Dunne and Hill contract extension haven't we? How many CBs do you want! Face it, there's absolutely no need for Ferdinand. There's far better out there in the likes of Lascelles/Caulker. I sometimes wonder if people just want 'famous' players for the sake of it. Lets not forget Ehmer is a solid backup; he coped with Jutkiewicz admirably earlier in the season, who's a handful.
I believe Ferdinand can do a job for us in the short term yes, that's my opinion if it's ok by you? But only if he is the one old pro among other younger signings. I don't see either Hill or Dunne featuring regularly for us in the Premier League. Hill is back to up to the CB and LB positions only, and Dunne got an automatic contract extension. I see both contracts more as a "bonus" rather than a vote of confidence re playing time. I know that sounds harsh, but that is the reality imo. I love both of them and are forever gratefull for their efforts, but they are no more than back ups this season. Back ups I'm confident will perform when called upon mind.
That's fine, and my opinion is that a club of our size signing 3cbs is gratuitous, if that's okay? Dunne's more used to 38 game seasons, I'd like to think he'd be an able backup to Onouha/Caulker/Lascelles. Hill's been constantly written off over the last 3 years, and every time he's done a solid job for us too. Hill is 36 in October, and Dunne is 35 in September- so between them they've certainly got enough experience to guide the other CB's. If I were Ehmer (or any other QPR youth player for that matter), I'd be immediately leave the club if it becomes the norm for us to shift in OAPs at the expense of my position In the squad.
Ferdinand wont feature regularly either so thats 3 of 4 that arent regulars which will mean changing the partnership every game. He be ok but only if we dumped dunne.
please log in to view this image Nottingham Forest have turned down a £4million offer from Queens Park Rangers for centre-half Jamaal Lascelles. The 20-year-old defender has been generating Premier League interest for some time, with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur reported to have been closely monitoring his development while he was still part of Forestâs academy ranks. The 2013/14 campaign proved to be a breakthrough one for Lascelles, with injuries to senior team-mates seeing him entrusted with a regular role at the heart of the back four. The youngster thrived under the responsibility and remained one of Forestâs most consistent performers as their season started to unravel after the turn of the year. Bids were expected this summer, with home-grown talent always highly sought-after. Top flight new boys QPR have made the first official approach, but they have been left in little doubt that the terms currently on the table fall some way short of Forestâs valuation. Not that the Reds have any intention of selling, with new boss Stuart Pearce determined to keep the youthful core of the squad he has inherited intact â with the likes of Karl Darlow and Henri Lansbury also generating transfer gossip. http://www.teamtalk.com/queens-park-rangers/9371276/Transfer-news-Nottingham-Forest-down-turn-down-bid-from-QPR-for-Jamaal-Lascelles
I'm not 'Arrys biggest fan, but if we get the likes of Caulker and Lascelles I'll be more than happy to give him due credit. Edit - In the same way that despite maintaining that 'Arry really didn't manage us that well last year, I am happy to admit that he was excellent in the play-off campaign.
