QPR assistant boss expecting Taarabt departure in January - QPR - London 24 Adel Taarabt QPR assistant boss expecting Taarabt departure in January Ian Cooper Wednesday, December 7, 2011 11:58 AM Jones: âWe all know he wants to go somewhere else, and weâve known since the last kick of last seasonâ QPR assistant manager Mick Jones is expecting Adel Taarabt to leave the club in January, and says only an injury to another midfielder will allow him to play for Rangers again. Taarabt has not featured since his below-par performance in Rangersâ 3-1 defeat at Tottenham on October 30, and Jones suggested that exodus is unlikely to end any time in the near future. The want-away 22-year-old came close to moving to French side Paris Saint-Germain during the summer, only to be left frustrated after the transfer fell through at the last minute. âOne way or another itâs got to come to some sort of conclusion in January, Jones told London24.com. âOne of our midfielders will have to get injured for him to get into the team. âWould we like to keep him? No, because we all know that he wants to go somewhere else, weâve known that since the last kick of last season. âHe nearly went to Paris Saint-Germain, and that only broke down because of the finances more than anything else. [PSG manager] Leonardo wanted him, but they werenât prepared to pay one penny more than what was on offer. âThat was under the previous owners, under the present set-up I think he would have gone because Neil would have handled it. Iâd be surprised if he was still here in February. âItâs a double-edged sword; weâve got to look after our own team and people have got to get into that team on merit. We canât just put him into the team to sell him.â PSG are expected to renew their interest in January, and Jones believes a move to France would suit Taarabt perfectly. âHe wants to play abroad, heâs always told me personally that he wants to play in certain countries,â Jones added. âHeâd like to play in his homeland obviously. PSG was almost a dream move for him, and heâd walk to Marseille, thatâs his home town and thatâs where his family is.â Follow me on Twitter @QPRTimes iReader http://www.london24.com/sport/champ...ecting_taarabt_departure_in_january_1_1147427
yep, bad times. I fully expected Tarbs to take the Prem by storm. The best we played was the Wolves, Newcastle and Villa games when he was on fire. Made so much space for guys like SWP to run in to. Tarbs was literally taking 3 players out the opposition team against Newcastle everytime he was on the ball. We havent played as well without him and that is the honest truth!
My view entirely Sam, but if Mick Jones expects him to go he probably will, sadly for us. Still looking on the bright side, a sale of Adel may provide part of the cash for us to find someone equally creative, but hopefully also more committed.
Personally i really do rate Adel but once again he proves that he is not interested in 'getting on' with the job and thinks he should be playing at Barca. We must all remember that QPR is bigger than him and we need to stay focused with staying up and not worry about a player that clearly does not want to be here. I would rather have a player that puts in a good shift anyday over someone that turns it on once every 10 games. Adel has great skill but my mate at Spurs said he has a bad attitude that's why they got rid of him. Sorry but for me we need to get rid and get the best price.
Talent is one thing, but attitude an application of it are what makes a great player. If he ain't interested in proving himself a premiership player with us, then it's goodbye from me and thanks for the memories of last season AT. And one bit of advice, get rid of the "advisers"....they will be rid of you as soon as you have no cash.
its a shame was hoping to see him performing this season but it hasn't happened, but without him last season we wouldn't be in prem now so thanks adel & brought us a few million quid, hope he does well where ever that maybe but change your attitude son
Funny i thought he would be as he is. That day up at Hull sumed it up for me. All that talent and it will go to waste. I bet when he leaves us he will end up at some team abroad and his career will go down the pan and in 3-4 years we will be saying thank god we got £8-10m for him.
I didn't. His attitude stinks and the sooner we sell the better. It is an awful shame that the boy can't/won't cop on because he has it all in his locker. We have players that really want to play for us and they're the ones for me. I'm convinced Tarbs has a screw loose or he's just a bit dim. Either way its a shame but time to go.
As much as I rate Adel and want him to stay, I'm actually looking forward to him leaving so we can then at least talk about someone else!
You mean we can't talk about him when he's gone??!! I know there's at least another 50 to 60 threads in the pipeline as we speak, covering many hitherto unfeatured topics such as his favourite colour, Adel's most memorable dinner and his forthcoming album SingalongAdel.
