    QPRQPR look to offload Gorkss

QPR are close to agreeing a deal with Southampton for the sale of Kaspars Gorkss.

Winger Jason Puncheon may move to west London in exchange for the Latvian defender, who joined Rangers in 2008.

Rangers recently made Gorkss available for a transfer if the right offer came in, and Southampton were one of the clubs that showed an interest.

And as Neil Warnock had been looking to sign a wide-man, a swap deal involving Puncheon was discussed.

Warnock’s options in the transfer market have been increased by the recent Tony Fernandes-led takeover at Loftus Road, but the Saints seem keen to sign Gorkss regardless of whether the R’s boss still wants Puncheon.

Gorkss, who recently turned 29, was a key player in QPR’s promotion campaign but has fallen down the pecking order following the summer signings of Danny Gabbidon and Bruno Perone.

Puncheon, 25, is out of favour at Southampton and has not made an appearance for them this season.

He has Premier League experience, having spent the second half of last term on loan at Blackpool.

While with MK Dons, Puncheon was a target for the then QPR manager Ian Holloway, who has since signed him for both Plymouth and Blackpool.

Rangers’ willingness to part with Gorkss will come as a bitter disappointment to the centre-back, as he is desperate for a chance in the Premier League.

If a deal between the clubs is struck, he will then have to decide whether to drop back down to the Championship or reject the move in the hope he can eventually force his way into the Rangers side.

Clearly NW has lost faith in Gorkss, and since it wasn't poor performances, I can only think it is because NW and Curle don't believe Kaspers has the pace for the Prem. Southampton have hit the ground running - if I was his agent, I'd advise him to move, particularly as new QPR money isn't going to make his chances of getting into our first team any easier

got to feel sorry for gorkkss . missed out on PL with Blackpool and now being sold by us.

not bothered by puncheon, would rather we set our sights a little higher now. From Southampton i'd rather take LLana.

I think you'll find that the "little prick" comment was aimed at Puncheon.

This would be a great deal for saints a quality experienced cb, something we need imo. For a childlike player who hasn't played for us in the league for almost a year.

I will be gutted if Gorkss leaves as he is another that in my opinion deserves a chance to play higher league football. I guess what also must come into the equasion is his salary and at the age of 29, what is the re-sale of him if he doesn't go now? Plus, if he only has a year left then we get no cash for him.

If he does leave, it will be a great buy for the Saints

Feel for Kaspars. He was our star signing a few seasons back!! Do wish him well and would like to meet him in the Prem again with Soton off to their flying start.

Surely we can do better than Puncheon Meat from the Spamhampton bargain bin for tea. Can't we afford Luxury now ... Heinz Beans and Bacon Burgers and a tin of mixed vegetables in brine
