QPR aim to set fundraising record Wed 12th Oct 2011 | IT & Technology On the 15th October, former QPR centre-half and fansâ favourite Steve Wicks will return to his former Club to support the QPR in the Community Trust with its biggest fan appeal of the season. Together, Steve and the Trust aim to set a record for the most amount of money ever raised by football supporters during a Premier League match, using JustTextGiving by Vodafone. They have partnered with the UKâs first-ever free text donation service to enable fans to donate directly from their mobile phones throughout the game. Wicks, said: âQPR has always been a community Club â even when I played most of my games for Rangers back in the â80s. âThe Community Trust is a fantastic project that continues to grow but, at the same time, we need your support to make it even bigger! Please back this worthwhile cause.â The former Râs defender will take to the pitch at half-time to encourage supporters to be a part of this unique football fundraiser by asking them to text âQPRW12 £3â to 70070. Every penny donated will go to the QPR in the Community Trust and texts cost nothing to send. Donators can also claim Gift Aid to increase their donation and help raise even more money. Andy Evans, CEO of the QPR in the Community Trust, added: âTo enable us to create more worthwhile sporting and social opportunities for our local community, we really need the support of the QPR family. âThe Community Trust programme continues to go from strength to strength and, with your texts of donation, we really can continue to make a difference.â --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RETURN TO LATEST NEWS SECTION SUBSCRIBE TO THE F.C.
