James Brent and the Directors of PAFC have kindly agreed to take part in a PASOTI Question and Answer session with the Green Army. The thread will stay open until 5pm on Tuesday March 20th. Questions then will be passed over to James Brent/Directors who will answer them. IF YOUR NOT A PASOTI MEMBER WILL YOU NOT BE ABLE TO ASK A QUESTION..........OVER TO YOU SENSIBLE............WHAT IS YOUR VIEW ON THAT. Maybe thats the first question ?
Well it plainly is bollocks plymborn. I would hazard a guess that he has agreed to do this at the behest of Mr Pres. If that is so it once again shows his allegiance only to a section of the fan base. I would not expect him to open it up to this site perhaps and that is no disrespect intended to not606. We just aren't big enough. But, I would expect questions to be allowed on ATD for example which is the second biggest fan website. I can see why Webb would not want this though. ATD is full of ex PASOTI members who were unceremonially thrown off there. Mostly it seems for not shutting up when ordered and speilling the party line. Like most things that come out of the Argyle PR mill it isn't worth the paper it's written on. I listen to PM's Question Time on the Radio each week because I like to keep in touch with current affairs. The Tory questions are so loaded with a "lets clap ourselves on the back" questions that it is laughable. I fear this will be much the same but allow Webb to point to it and raise the cry that Brent is a man of the people just as he has been portrayed all along. Any real question will be syphoned off before it ever gets to him and his team or ignored in favour of the other variety anyway. Old James is certainly a PR man but he would need more than PR if he just allows Argyle to slip out of the football league without even a whimper.
Far be it for me to defend the management of PAFC but at least Brent has been crystal clear all along that Argyle has to be "self sustaining" i.e. pay its own way. At no point has he given anyone any grounds for expecting large sums of cash to be forthcoming to finance safety or success. Short of pulling on the No. 10 shirt and providing that quality midfield service we need himself, I'm not quite clear what anyone thinks he's going to do.
It all depends what PASOTI management allow to be put before him and the Directors.......one Director might be more discerning and realize (I hope) that any questions asked are only from one section of the fanbase.
I doubt you are an avid reader of ATD notdistant or perhaps have not even looked on there. There are a lot more questions than just about spending money on the squad and relegation. The site is full of people who were thrown off PASOTI for daring to ask uncomfortable questions and not agreeing with the party line on there by loving all things Brent. This is what I find wrong with Mr President. He clearly only favours part of the support base and seems to make no secret of this. By constantly ignoring the rest he is not a President for all which is so wrong in so many ways. It is not for me about the standard of question or responding to complaining supporters who will always complain anyway no matter how much or little you spend. It is about engaging with everyone and not just the chosen few. Brent is safe in the knowledge that he isn't going to get anything hard asked and can come across as the open owner he wants to appear.
Plym. As i said its Bollocks and not worth getting involved in that debate. I have been on pasti and never even tried on AHD. This is enough for me as i feel some of the morons on Pasti would wind me up to much i would be banned within a few hours. I have got over that now!! i just sit back and listen or do as i am told , i hear some on sites are calling for his head already. His main concern should be keeping us in the Football league. Why has he got that puppett Webb?
I do look on Pasoti now & then Sensible and I have a pretty poor opinion of El Presidente, partly I admit due in turn to an extremely low opinion of public sector unions in general. However, I'm afraid the cynic in me knows that in fact the fans [including me of course] count for very little and therefore so do their Q&A sessions. Brent is a businessman and one who's not very interested in football to boot. His motivation for keeping Argyle in the League is to lever the Council towards a combined grandstand/hotel development. That is much less likely if Argyle disappear into the Blue Square, partly due to adverse PR and most importantly due to the fact that a big new stand and corporate facilities will be nothing but a financial white elephant to the Council [as the owners of Home Park] outside the League. That isn't an attack on Brent, quite the contrary, it's an entirely rational motivation I understand and respect and one which is quite capable of being to the benefit of PAFC and the City of Plymouth. The fans aren't important now and they weren't very important when we were in administration, which makes Webb's vainglorious self-promotion all the more embarrassing. In short, I don't think it's very important: what goes on around Brent's boardroom table is and that we aren't party to.
So why isn't Brent making sure we don't drop out of the league, that would put the kibosh on any thoughts of development in the near future. Putting all his eggs into the Fletcher basket seems poor strategy to me........most clubs topping up with loan players to help them ........we are doing nothing at all..... (is that the FL's doing).
My question would be .... Is Mr. Webb supposed to support all of the fans or just the ones who belong to Pasoti ?
I emailed PAFC with a message for Mr B. I said along the lines of this Q and A was only being opened up to a fraction of the fanbase and the rest are being ingored. Also that the question site is being doctored to sanitise it and any awkward questions are being deleted. Did he realise this and if not then he should look into what Mr Pres is doing. That was last evening and so far as you would expect there is no reply. Do I expect one? No. If Brent thinks by doing this it is good PR then he should wise up to the fact that a good number of people are not fooled and will only reverse what he expects from it. Maybe there should be a staged stay away in protest over the conduct of Webb and when a thousand are shaved off the numbers and tell him why perhaps he will listen then and stop treating the masses as if they were fools.
Why don't they close pasoti down and have a website that isn't run by a dictatorship instead......I don't think they would let me say that on there........ would they?
When did Brent promise anything else, he has delivered exactly what he said. He kept us alive and that is all. Until we are a sustainable commodity we will always be at risk, as much as it hurts to say if we drop out the league but obtain a solid foundation then I will take that. Only a few months ago it was more than possible that there would be no Argyle and that was far worse than where we are today.
