Q: Did we receive a sell on fee from the Matt Phillips sale?
A: Yes, £200k, and this has been paid to Steve Hayes to partly pay down our debt to him ahead of schedule. This figure was agreed with Blackpool prior to his sale and had been the subject of negotiation since January. When finally agreed in early August, the Club Board believed it was good business as Matt was entering the final year of his contract and had a broken arm. Also, there was a possibility of Blackpool selling Tom Ince and then not wishing to sell Matt. Of course, with hindsight, we could have received more, but if he hadn’t been sold in this window, we would more than likely have received nothing.

Q: How much did we receive for Charles Dunne?
A: £250k. Again we believe this represented good business as Charles is a fantastic young player who was entering the final year of his contract and wouldn’t have signed another one with us. Key to the deal was that Charles has been loaned back to us, up to the point where he would have left us anyway.

Q: Did the sales of Dunne and Jordan Ibe have sell on and international appearance clauses?
A: Yes, although we are contractually bound not to release the details at this time.

Q: Are we looking to extend the contracts of our young players?
A: Yes, definitely, whilst operating within our budget.

Q: Are we looking to extend Billy Knott’s loan?
A: Yes, we are looking at this.

Q: Is there any possibility of reintroducing an academy?
A: Closing our previous academy was a very difficult but financially necessary decision and we will resurrect it in some form as soon as we can. In the mean time we are continually looking for good young players who we can sign and develop, such as Tom Fletcher, who was playing in non-league for Cheshunt. Gareth is also aware that a number of the ‘Stokenchurch’ players are talented.

    Other

Q: Is it now profitable to have Wasps as tenants and do we want them to remain for the future?
A: It is very marginal and depends on their attendances. They are contracted to be here for this season with an option to extend for next season. However their stated position is that they see their future elsewhere.

Q: Do we have alternative tenants in mind?
A: The ‘desso’ pitch is nearing the end of its life and therefore, for the longer term, we will have to decide whether to have another tenant and replace the pitch with one that can withstand two teams, or have a standard (and much cheaper) pitch for ourselves only.

No real surprises! Decent business for Dunne seeing as he was in the last year of his contract, probably wouldn't sign another deal and will be with us for the season. Had also heard Blackpool were paying his wages whilst he is on loan.

good update, but personally im disappointed with the amount we got for dunne, given how we were slightly short-changed with Phillips from the same club as well... still though on the plus side we get him back on loan, billy knots loan could be extended and the club is quite transparent about all deals etc

Jose I can't really see how you can be too disappointed with the Dunne deal. He wouldn't have signed another contract, would have gone in the summer and we would have got very little via a tribunal. We have instead got £250k now and still have the player for the same period of time.

Ron I am presuming its marginal as despite the income I am guessing we are incurring a lot of the matchday costs when Wasps play as the comment mentions about the dependency on attendances.

12 teams in the league. Ignoring cup runs, that's 11 home matches per season, almost £60k per match. I have no idea if that is a reasonable net cost per match for us.

Don't forget they play their big games in London, so we are missing out on those.
