Hello all, Unfortunately the talented Pyrrha has had to be put down, the RP once again have done a brilliant write up - Full Story "PYRRHA, who sustained a fractured pelvis when contesting the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, has had to be put down. After originally describing her condition as "touch and go", trainer Chris Wall was able to offer a more upbeat bulletin earlier this month, however, Pyrrha's condition deteriorated rapidly last Wednesday, leaving her vets with no option but to put her down the following day. "I am afraid that I have to pass on the very sad news that Pyrrha was put down last Thursday," Wall told his website. "It was a sad end for a filly who had given all her connections such tremendous fun and excitement through her career. Everyone here was very upset on hearing the news. "The vets and the nursing team at the Arundel Veterinary Hospital did their utmost to save her and we are all grateful for their efforts." Owned by Lady Juliet Tadgell, Pyrrha was making her final appearance at Goodwood and was already in-foal to Derby winner New Approach. The five-year-old's biggest victory came when she defeated Golden Stream in the Group 3Chartwell Fillies' Stakes at Lingfield last spring. She won four of her 14 starts and £140,597 in win and place prize-money." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Such a sad story and whilst I don't want to turn this into a political debate on racing when in foal, I do think this shows how much racing connections care for their horses and try all they can to give the horses the best care and the best medical treatments. RIP Pyrrha
