Maybe it's time I got me boots back on .I scored more goals playing centre half than our forwards are this season ffs
I'll have a go but i'm 59 with 2 arthritic knees so can't move very fast so i'll fit right in I used to be a keeper but even i could score more than Samuel who is Conference standard at best.
Ok you've tempted me but I will need expenses paid. I was a striker and once scored 5 goals in an 8-1 win against the team who were top the league (just a local league). But I did score twice at Loakes Park playing for Wycombe & District school team. Not as fast as I used to be; my 14yo grandson can beat me in 30m sprint. He's a midfielder and might trial at Wycombe in couple of years. Maybe he should go over earlier
Well at least JJ is not our top scorer even though he is joint & a couple of the Beasts & JJ were penaltys as well
Samuels is a feckin' joke of a striker yet Ainsworth gave him a contract extension recently Some Wycombe fans rate him for his workrate and winning free kicks but surely the main job of a striker is to score goals, 1 League goal all season from the amount of starts he's had is nowhere near good enough.
I don't mind him actually. Can't fault his work rate. When the other side is better (which seems a regular feature) someone who is always willing to chase down every ball and put those in possession under pressure to hurry their passes and possibly enabling us to regain possession as a result is worth having around in my book. Such players are often underrated because of their lack of goals. He's not our main striker. Our main strikers are Bayo and Kashkett (who I don't rate much). As I said many times, if we don't get at least one decent striker in the transfer window, we're ****ed; and so it seems. But strikers are no good if they aren't being fed regularly. Based on the lack of shots in recent games, something is wrong elsewhere too. I think we need wingers who can terrify defences, turn them inside out and lay passes on for the strikers. I don't think we have such talent. Correct me if I am wrong
We have Fred and Smyth I think they are quite capable of terrifying the defences in this league but when the crosses come in their is nobody there to put it away
Are they random crosses? They need to look up and try laying it off for the proverbial tap ins. Aimless crosses are almost as useless as humping long balls up the middle
What I'm saying is that is that nobody is taking the risk on the second ball the midfield is too far back
We should be attacking in numbers and defending in numbers. That requires midfielders who are fast enough to advance and retreat depending on whether we are attacking or defending. As I said earlier, there is something else wrong; not just the strikers
