I bet NC wishes he'd got shot of Puncheon in January. I believe Punch was angling for a move and an offer (obviously too low for NC) was put in. Sometimes you're better to cut your losses and shift on a disruptive influence. Hope he's not another Pulis, though I'm pretty sure somebody will want him...good player if he sorts out his attitude.
