Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis wants £30m to take the club to the next level, with Sunderland forward Connor Wickham, 21, and Stoke midfielder Steven N'Zonzi, 25, among his targets. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...lis-asks-crystal-palace-3471221#ixzz30DiATp9V He won't get much change from that £30m for Wickham alone!
Tony Pulis asks Crystal Palace bosses for £30million transfer fund to establish Eagles in the Premier League Stoke midfielder Steven N'Zonzi is a wanted man, while Pulis was frustrated by the failure to secure Sunderland goal hero Connor Wickham in January Tony Pulis has told Crystal Palace he wants £30million to take the club to the next level after completing his survival miracle. The Welshman was on the end of a 2-0 reverse against Manchester City on Sunday, but the Eagles are safe in mid-table after a remarkable turnaround following his November appointment. And now he wants the South London club to spend if they are to establish themselves as a Premier League side. Pulis is on the look out for a centre-forward and remains frustrated over the failure to sign Connor Wickham in January. The 56-year-old remains a huge fan of the Sunderland striker, but is aware he will now have to pay far more than the £5million asking price that senior Palace figures baulked at during the winter - even if the Black Cats go down. The Eagles boss also wants to upgrade his midfield by bringing in Stoke giant Steven N’Zonzi, but has told the club hierarchy that he has no plans to change from the high-tempo, counter-attacking playing style with which Palace have had so much success. Pulis has also promised a “clean slate” for his players next season, in a move that is likely to see club legend Julian Speroni replaced by Wayne Hennessey. The Argentine is out of contract this summer and yet to discuss a renewal, but will be informed that he is no longer guaranteed the number one jersey despite 10 years at Selhurst Park. Leicester City and Sunderland are reportedly interested. Sporting Director Iain Moodyand Chief Scout Tim Coe are both on the lookout for a left-back and at least one wide midfielder to improve Pulis’ first XI but the former Stoke boss is also keen to take a bigger role in the recruitment process. Up to ten players are expected to leave the club, including Barry Bannan, Dean Moxey, Aaron Wilbraham, Jose Campaña, Stephen Dobbie and Jimmy Kebe. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...lis-asks-crystal-palace-3471221#ixzz30GKW25SN
So, is that £5m for Wickham and £25m for N'Zonzi? Put a 2 in front of that 5 and we'll consider it... before laughing in your face!
The interest in Wickham won't end with Crystal Palace. Brendan Rodgers has a long standing interest in the lad. Man Utd will totally rebuild their squad over the summer and a line leading striker will top their requirements. Chelsea haven't replaced Drogba with the big strong striker that Wickham is developing into. Arsenal will look for a blunt instrument to complement their intricate build up play. Then of course, some of the big foreign clubs will have noticed the emergence of this new English striker. The lad will be the next Shearer in our game, and I don't think Sunderland are big enough to hold on to him. I just hope he is re-signed on a huge contract that will guarantee a big fee when he does eventually leave us.
**** me man, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. The lad's hit a rich vein of form but who knows how long that will last? We kept ahad of SKP until we went down. Can't see any of the big guns coming in for Wickham yet. Johnson hit similar form a few games ago but I don't see his name bandied about. I agree with you on the contract situation mind.
>>> BillyD: My point is that Wickham has surfaced in the Premier League. This isn't just a "rich vein of form", he has landed in the big league and will be a permanent fixture with SAFC until he has a dip in form or is injured. All the big clubs are now aware of him. He's 21, nowhere near his peak, and he can only get better. We couldn't keep hold of Henderson or Mignlolet when the big boys came knocking, so I don't expect anything different for Wickham.
Aye you have a point there mate but King Kenny was in charge then & the Liverbirds were lashing money about left, right & centre. As you say, let's get the lad tied down & if some **** wants to pay stupid money then that's up to them. £35m for Caroline ffs!
if we stay up we should get him to sign an extension in the summer. manager after manager has stunted his development, now hes getting his chance and showing what he can do we need to keep him. hopefully we stay up and he stays fit and gets to play most of next year
