Stoke boss Pulis doubts Pardew made Newcastle decision on Cabaye deal

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis wonders who is pulling the strings at Newcastle United.

While the signing of Yohan Cabaye has proved a brilliant move, Pulis doubts his counterpart Alan Pardew had anything to do with the £5m bargain-buy from Lille.

Welshman Pulis, who takes Stoke to Newcastle tomorrow night, said: “I’m not sure it was Alan who picked Cabaye.

I think there’s someone else up there who picks out the players. Whoever it was, though, Cabaye does look a very good player.

“I certainly would never let someone else choose my players for me. It is one of the things I always insist upon in this job.”

He's no fergie when it comes to mind games pretty piss poor attempt esp. when Pardew stated in his radio phone in the way the transfers work at the toon.
    Epic fail.

WTF? Yeah Pulis, it's called a scouting network. They do the research and recommend players to the club.

Pulis' strikers don't need to be good. They just need to be big enough to push the opposition players over

He just has no idea what a CM does, as his teams never bother giving them the ball. Glen Whelan must have the easiest job in football...

    This.

Pulis must think that SAF found Fabio, Rafael, Vidic, Anderson on his trips around the world looking for players.

In a rare interview, Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew has come out to firmly defend the way Newcastle United conduct their business in the transfer market.

He told local rag, the Sunday Stun, that Newcastle United are no different from clubs such as Manchester United in their recruitment policy, and added that he wasn’t really disappointed to have missed out on any players, saying:

“I don’t think the process at Newcastle is very different from elsewhere in the Premier League.

“It’s exactly what I had at West Ham in terms of chief executive (Derek Llambias) trying to do the deal – and it’s as simple as that. The board, and in this case we don’t really have a board – it’s Mike to a degree, agreeing with the deal that the chief executive has done.

“That’s the same as every other club that I know and how it works. I keep hearing these things about this football club that are actually just not true. I don’t think the procedure is any different. (obiviosly it's different at stoke <doh>)

“At West Ham I would tell Aldridge, my chief executive there, I would like to do a deal for him. He would go away and try and do the deal and most of the time it didn’t happen, to be honest.

“Usually because the other club make it impossible to happen. It is the same at Stoke(not) – it is the same at Manchester United.”

“That was one that we had no control over – I think it was probably done before we got there. But outside of that, not really disappointed to have missed anyone.

“There’s always one or two you would like to have been involved in but we’re very focused on where we are right now. Of course, negotiations are ongoing – that’s all I can really say at the moment.”

correct me if i'm wrong but during the phone in Carr was mentioned quite alot and i'm 100% sure pardew said he gets information on players from Carr and his scouting network then he goes with Carr to watch the player (hence the Swiss trip not long ago) then a list is given to lamearse who takes it from there.

You're absolutely right, that is exactly what Pardew said. Pardew is happy with the setup, the players are happy and the new lads we're pulling in are top drawer. Pulis is just a total moron who is probably gutted that some other British manager younger than him is getting attention for doing a good job and playing positive football while he gets slammed regulalry for playing negative hoofball.
