TP split opinions at Stoke but we can't get away from the fact he took us to the promised land and managed to keep us there. Yes at times we were boring but at others especially around the FA Cup Final we played some great and exciting football. Some people may point to the fact he was well backed financially but how many other managers have had good backing and still not managed to keep their side up or go onto bigger and better things. Taking his time with us and adding the job he has done at Palace, which is nothing short of a miracle-7 points when he took over in November and 40 now and who is to say they wont actually finish above Stoke even, should he be considered now as a really top manager and maybe some reflection that overall he did a top job with us as well. Tin hat at the ready
Put yer tin hat back in the cupboard Northern, no incoming from me. As most on here know, I was not his biggest fan. BUT...he has done a magnificent job at Palace, I can think of no other manager with the balls not only to take the job AND succeed, beyond any Palace fans wildest dreams. Most other fans derided the decision. Not perhaps a top manager, but he would get my vote as Manager of the Year (although that will go to Rodgers). Never thought I would write a eulogy to Pulis, but credit where its due.
He has done a fantastic job for palace and did well for us bringing us up and keeping us there after the first couple of seasons he was out of his depth with the development side of things and showed complete contempt for the players the fans and the club.
He's done a great job at Palace, it would be very interesting to see him replace Whinger. Definitely TP for manager of the year in my book. Can't imagine there would of been many takers for the Palace job when he said yes, put his reputation on the line only to finish the season with an even higher reputation.
spot on, he did a great job for us but he only got 2 wins from xmas until the end of the season in his last year with us. He still parks the bus with 25-35% posession, imo he was in a no lose situation when he went to Palace and I fear that it will be a different story next season when he is expected to stay up and starts to hoof and park the bus and upset players and upset the fans etc I will always be grateful for what he did at stoke but this season has been the most entertaining by a mile and has given our club some credibility back. Up the potters
Interesting comments from each of you. I was thinking of posting myself on TPs achievements at Palace this season and was just wondering how he has managed to keep them up. They were dead and buried IMO when he took over and though I thought he would get them better organised, especially defensively, I still thought they would be relegated. Now I am concerned that Palace could yet finish above us, how ironic that would be when he never managed a top ten finish for us. TP has also stated that Palace have a different set of player type at Palace and that has allowed him to develop a different way to play using pace compared to what he had at Stoke. To me that sounds incredible given that the Stoke team was his creation and the way we played (Pulisball) was done to him. I will be miffed if Palace do finish above us but 33 points in 22 games since TP took over is surprising. What's more he is playing Cameron Jerome (pace!) regularly yet at Stoke he ignored him. My question is: How has TP managed to achieve what he has achieved at Palace and will he sustain it?
The man in charge at glass castle just cannot be the same person who was in charge at this football club. It's impossible! Someone is masquerading as that person. It is time he revealed himself. I just cannot believe it is the same bag of s**t who drove the supporters of this football club to distraction who is now at glass castle.
And a good morning to you KKB. Thank you for quoting me, I feel quite flattered, although I dont think you meant to be complimentary to my opinion. It is not about what he did, it is about what he is doing at Palace. Now take a deep breath, count to 10 and read the post again. Have a good day. Love and hugs Nick
Rogers still gets it for me, to go to liverpool and be in with a great chance of winning the league against the likes of arsenal, man city, chelsea is virtually a miracle. and they are the best team to watch imo its a weird one with pulis, nearly every palace game ive watched they get hammered but then make a breakaway and win one nil, there are a few exceptions but playing in this way he will end up with palace as he did with us. He has been very fortunate with quite a few results imo.
Perhaps getting the boot from Stoke was the wake-up call he needed. He's done a great job this season.
