    Pulis On QPR Rude Awakening
Head coach Tony Pulis has said that the four one defeat to Queens Park Rangers was a very rude awakening for everybody at the club.

In quotes carried by wba.co.uk following the game, a frustrated gaffer said we basically got what we deserved from a very poor first half that gave them a three goal going into half time.

'We powder-puffed our way through 45 minutes of Premier League football, which you can't do. Brownie missed a good chance before they score. We should have dealt better with their first goal. The second goal was from a set play. Zamora scored a great third goal and the fourth goal shouldn't have scored because Charlie Austin tripped Gareth McAuley. That was a poor decision by the referee.'

Pulis goes on to say that a lot of things go through manager's and player's minds when you get to this stage of the season, and maybe the team were too focused on other things but if they were then this has to be a wake up call that proves we've achieved nothing yet when it comes to survival as if we continue to play like that we'll be right back in it.

'There are a lot of things that go through footballers' minds. Getting to 33 points...people read social networks, social media and listen to the press who say they're safe. The one thing for sure is that if you're not on it 100 per cent you will get a rude awakening. And we that's exactly what happened. The players have to be full out. And we weren't, especially in the first half.'

With the second half showing a marked improvement, although many would argue that wasn't entirely difficult given the standard of the first 45, Pulis went on to praise the effort we put in but he knew Youssouf Mulumbu's dismissal really cost us our hopes of getting back level.

'We created more chances after the break. We scored one goal but should have scored two or three more and that's happened a few times now. As for Youssouf, his hand is up. He's jumped for the ball and Barton has gone into his arm. The referee will say he shouldn't have his arm up there.'

Whether we appeal the red remains to be seen.

Pulis on Rude Awakening (an excerpt from The Mysterious Incident with the Cap in the Night):-

The first rays of sunshine pierced through the gaps in the curtains of the Gullit household. Ruud could hear the irregular clatter of crockery approaching.

He was on the verge of drifting off into another slumber when he sensed someone in the room.

As he battled the drowsiness, he opened an eye and saw a tray with coffee, toast and a single red rose.

As he turned his head to see the benefactor behind such a picture perfect offering, consciousness returning with each second, he recognised Tony Pullis. He felt the warmth of contentment inside him and he knew that he loved that man.
