Stoke City's manager has been warned about his future conduct and handed a £10,000 fine after attending the hearing which he had personally requested. Pulis issued a brief statement in response, saying: "I am very disappointed with the outcome. I have requested written reasons and am considering an appeal." City's manager had been charged with improper conduct in respect of comments made about referee Lee Probert following the cup tie at the Britannia Stadium. The comments were found to constitute improper conduct by an Independent Regulatory Commission, but Pulis denied the charge and requested a personal hearing.
I think the rules surrounding the protetcion of refs are boarder line communist! I wouldnt suggest that any manager should make personal comments about any individual referee, but when asked a question they should be able to respond as to whether the Ref was good/bad/indifferent and what they may or may not have done right! It is even worse when managers have been warned/fined for being positive about the ref: WTF? Its about time that refs were made to give a post match interview to explain decessions behind a game, not locked in a room to write a report to support what ever the FA wants it to say! On a seperate note, I think TP's fine has been coming for a while!
