I'm not a big fan of the idea of screening matches in pubs. As bizarre as it sounds, I think it's taking crowds away from non-league football too. Who wants to stand outside in the cold and rain drinking tea out of a polystyrene cup when they could be in a bar watching the Premier League?

the woman who was taken to court said that.

"if teams are worried about ticket sales then dont sell the rights to matches to TV companies"

Sunderland are a good example of how **** some modern 'fans' really are - they have a home match but prefer to watch in the pub as it works out cheaper! Ironically, most of these types sit in the pub wearing replica shirts, no doubt to prove their pride in their club! <laugh>

Nevermind supporting your club, it's all about picking the cheapest option for them.

Sky have simply been too greedy - nobody enjoys watching a English PL game with Italian commentary or worst still the sound off, but Sky have forced publicans to seek cheaper options because of the daft tariff they inflict on pubs.

I think the best solution would be for there to be less money pumped into the sport - it's totally unfair the way it's divided anyway,(much like the rest of the world eh?), and I think Sky have a massive amount to answer for.

    THIS!

The last time I spoke to the barman about it, he said that they were paying £800 for sky per MONTH! Compare that to £1300 for the year for the satalitte (foreign) channels and it's a joke. In the end he got the foreign channels as he couldn't afford sky and I can see why. I'm surprised Sky hasn't been done for monopolisation!

I also prefer to if I can, but if I can't get to the Toon match then I will watch them on a foreign channel.

I do too, I watch Blyth and Newcastle in all weathers, but I work Saturdays so don't get to Newcastle games as much as I'd perhaps like to. But I would imagine there are a lot of people up and down the UK who have stopped enjoying 3pm games at their local non-league ground to watch Premier League games in the pub.

Its hard to beat a live football game. just love being in a ground and soaking up the atmosphere.

Unfortunately I dont get to as many games as I'd like to due to work and £, but I go to as many as I possibly can.

I might be a bit weird though cause as an out and out Newcastle fan, I've been to far more Darlo and Linfield games, odd combination thinking about it...

Agree with this, the greed of Sky is astonishing at times. Sky has too much impact on events for me, they manipulate football fixtures, and bump up prices for premium events not just football. I have Sky sports, but if I wanted to watch Boxing for instance I'd be charged again for this.
Many of us have lost out financially due to fixtures being re-schedulled to accomodate Sky, personally the only Streamed tv game I've watched in the pub, was our last Derby at Sunderland.
I don't know much about Mrs Murphy the landlady involved, was she prosecuted and appealing against it, not too sure, no doubt one of you will know, but there must be some financial gain for her to take it this far.

apparently she has won her case this morning

she had got a sat decoder from greece, that showed prem games including 15:00 kick offs on sat.

sky tried to shut her down saying her decoder was illegal, but they've been told by EU courts it's not so get stuffed

I've noticed the breaking news on sky that she had won her case, but I was oblivious as to the circumstances surrounding her. I always know I can find out on here. <ok>

Sky will find some other loophole to enforce their hold on the domestic Premier League coverage.

It's already been stated that the logo, theme tune, highlights and snippets are part of their intellectual property.
