If I'm right, there is a (deliberate?) mis-spelling there. Watford Rovers became the West Herts football section in 1891, to later become the current WFC.

The only things I know of Southend is the town has a long pier and amusement place called Kursaal. Was Kursaal a Burmese cat?
No, but the Burmese cat's name would be instantly recognised I suspect - and was more famous than the actual cat....

They were based there.. and their manager who was from there named the band after a friends Burmese cat? ( great story... I never knew even considered why they were named that)
I'd be too mean to not give you that. 
The band Procol Harum actually came from the Richmond area, but the leading light, Gary Brooker, came from Southend - where he had previously fronted The Paramounts (funny how you remember such things after 50 years - if pressed, I could probably even sing their one and only hit 'Poison Ivy'). And yes, their manager named them after a friend's Burmese cat - although he misspelt it....
