Or is it Naypyidaw, the new capital city of Myanmar which names its streets after the functions they serve? e.g. hotel st etc
Neither - both are in the wrong continent and both older.
Isn't there one where all the street names are after the president and his family? Turkmenistan possibly but i don't know the capital.
No, not Turkmenistan, again wrong continent and Ashgabat is older by a couple of decades....

You got it NZ - the capital city is Juba, and for reasons unknown, many of the streets there are named after Queensland State of Origin legends such as Arthur Beetson, Mal Meninga, Wally Lewis, Allan Langer, Paul Vautin, Darren Lockyer and Gene Miles. I was pipped to a job with the Qld government by Mal Meninga a few years ago - Community Sports & Training Co-ordinator for Aboriginal children. I like to think that it was because I wasn't of Aboriginal origin - but I think his sporting profile was a tad higher than mine...

I honestly think that is the most bizarre thing i have ever heard (the street thing i mean - not your job application!) - how the bloody hell did they come up with that idea?

You are nearly there, Yorkie, it is Brazilian states, but you have the wrong ones.
The alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon thing are the stars of the national flag representing the southern cross. They represent the two givens São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, then Bahia, Minas Gerais and EspÃrito Santo in that order.
Over to you Brag. My Brazilian friends from São Paulo like the fact that they are alpha and Rio is beta.
We all know a lot of Brazilian footballers play using nicknames, one famous example was the World Cup winning captain Dunga. Where did the nickname Dunga originate?
