According to the club Twitter account Pitman was on fire today for the reserves. Granted, it's not first-team football but that kind of form anywhere is enough to make a manager sit up and take note.
Perhaps, but there's no doubting his quality, and that he can do a job in the Championship if given the chance. He may not be right for us, but I wouldn't be surprised to see another Championship team put in a bid for him should we formally put him up for a transfer. As much as they love him down there I'd be surprised if Pitman went back because at his age he should be looking upwards. I could see Blackpool putting in a cheeky bid as they tried to nab him when we came calling.
'too many forwards, no where near enough defenders' When Shaun Taylor finished all we did was spend Millions on strikers. Know Tony Thorpe was one, we bought another and didn't we already have Akynbi. Not bloody sure, to long ago. Massive mistake then - is history repeating itself.
Look at any club, most money is always usually spent on strikers and attacking midfielders as goals gets you wins and wins gets you the crowds. Jose at Chelsea is one of the only managers who spent big on all of his defenders as he built a team from the back, granted they won most games 1-0 and was known as boring boring chelsea but they won games and won the title twice. At the moment it is easy to say the money they spent on Davies £700k+ could have bought a good defender who would currently have played more games. but again buying Davies i think was a panick buy as we werent scoring goals and bringing in a top striker like we got with Sam was taking time. I also think the club were expecting to see Pitman leave to someone like Burnley and maybe see Albert go.
