With the lack of Swans news I've been hunting around the 'net and found this article, about a month old, which I for one hadn't noticed before. Although statistics can be manipulated whichever way suits your point of view, these come from Prozone which we know clubs use on a daily basis to assess performance and areas of improvement. The below link shows the Prozone stats in relation to Premiership survival, and although I haven't studied it at micro level it makes for interesting reading.Honest. http://www.leadersinperformance.com/the-leader/prozone-analysis-premier-league-survival/
Food for thought considering our style...... "Ultimately, the newly promoted clubs will need to ensure their Premier League status by performing on the pitch. Having analysed the performance statistics of teams that have survived their first seasons and those that have returned to the Championship after just one season, there really is very little difference in their key performance indicators. In fact, the relegated teams have a superior pass completion rate with 54 more passes a game than the teams that survive. These relegated teams also had an average of 1.1 more shots on goal per game. This would suggest that possession and shots at goal are not necessarily indicators of superiority, and that incisiveness and accuracy in front of goal play a larger role in survival. There is a lot of speculation on the physical demands of the Championship compared to the Premier League. This season saw Championship teams run an average of 3.6km more each match than their Premier League counterparts, cover 1,239 metres at high intensity and perform 62 more sprints per game. Therefore it will be adapting to the style of play and the tempo of the game that will be fundamental for the newly promoted clubs. The statistics show that relegated teams run 25m further in every match and cover 92m more at high intensity than those teams that have avoided the drop proving quality is the key to Premier League success." Always good to have a plan B and time to get pounding the sands boys!
Stats aren't really important imo! the only stat that is important is getting enough points to stay up!! which i really do think we will.
absolutely not, when they perform i will support. i believe they cost around 850,000 each, i would have preferred 1mill on a hungry yougster
fair enough about the price tags but you have also included tate and monk in previous rants amongst others. It seems like you would change most of the squad. If we had a benefactor and not a set style then maybe so, but Swansea is a club that will not do that and will simply build on the last 6 years. You should be aware of that by now, aren't you?
Interesting, but at the end of the day, it's in our hands to blow those stats apart! Our statement of intent will be made clear, when we play Man City!............... please log in to view this image
