I consider myself an adopted Scouser. Lived for twenty years in the City until work made it make sense to move to Chester, but Liverpool is still my favourite City. After the semi-final first leg, I was chatting to a Saints ST holder who wondered whether he should make the journey on Wednesday as he had never been to Liverpool and had swallowed all the ****e about the place. I told him it would be a great experience, advised him to make a day of it and see the Albert Dock and all that first. He came and couldn't believe it. He wandered round the City in his Saints shirt getting banter from people in shops and museums. He came to a ground where the stewards were pleasant, and where home fans spoke to him. Finally, when they eventually ejected us from the ground it was done with humour, and we walked across the car park chatting to disappointed Reds who were fulsome in their praise for our lot. Of course, with that perverse logic of a football fan, because I love Liverpool I love beating your lot more than any other team. So it was a great night on Wednesday, but it could have been dampened by gobby fans or over-zealous stewards. Instead the City I love showed itself to be what I know it is. Knowledgeable, witty and warm. Nice one.
Chester is a great city too! All the best people come from Cheshire... Except the Latchford area... People from there suck.
Great thread thanks for taking the time to post it. People are too quick to have a dig at the city of Liverpool but if, like yourself, they took the time to visit, they would see for themselves it's a great place. And ... glad our fans did us proud and you and your mate enjoyed the game and after game experience. I didn't Now go and beat the mancs
