Unlike the PB era, I'm not concerned when we lose points. I was ecstatic when Steve Bruce was appointed and think he's still developing the team. He's honest and holds his hands up. I am however disappointed that he's chosen to leave Proschwitz on the bench recently. He may not be a starter at the moment, but his 2 goals were quality and I think he should be getting the last 20/25 mins. Sitting on the bench isn't doing him or us any good.
today's subs were Mclean, Brady & Meyler - the second two of course he wanted to have a look at being new loan signings. Mclean is all energy and no end product.. Cardiff were a big unit and I'd have brought on Proschwitz too
I'd like to see Prosser too but re the above - in defence of Bruce didnt everyone say that at Hillsborough?
Before Mclean came on we were crossing balls into the box and no-one was there to get on the end of them (ideal for Proschwitz imo)
Bruce seems too nervous to play Proschwitz, I think we probably need to be 3-0 up with ten minutes to go, before he gets another look in.
I'm convinced Prossy is going to be one of those signings who is a bit part player for about a year and has next to no impact, but eventually becomes a really big asset for us. Next year is Proschwitz's year. Was it McCormack who went to Leeds and was crap for a year before suddenly becoming awesome again and scoring **** loads? He's gonna do that.
Nicks poor start here is'nt as bad at it seems imo. Iv'e never seen him look **** whenever iv'e seen him. I think the real reason he's not getting a game is down to the form of Aluko and Simpson, which is'nt a bad thing is it ? I'm certain he'll come good.
Not seen enough of him to make a sweeping judgement.. But I must admit I thought he would get more of a look in when we signed him. Time will tell as mr tickler would say
It's largely because we had a poor pre-season I think. Though I'd say the good side to this is that there've been no half arsed media stories come out about Proschwitz grumbling etc. He seems to understand that he needs to wait for his chance and make it count. Don't fix what's not broken and what not. Good lad who will come good when we need him to.
Bruce's only error as manager IMHO. He should not have given Prosser the start v Middlesbrough, should have let him come off the bench for 20-25 minutes for at least another 5-10 games. The Ipswich 2 goal salvo gave him huge confidence, the defeat at 'boro will have killed it. There's a great player in there, he just needs to be managed properly. Bruce did the right thing by benching him and getting him to watch and learn about the pace of the English game. He just needs to do it some more but make sure he gives him time on the pitch. Proschwitz can be our Dzeko
I guess bruce will put him on when he thinks he is ready. Unless he is going to be ready soon I think we need a new striker.
He's 25, he's a grown man, he should be reaching the top of his game. He cost a lot of money probably the majority of the transfer budget, we're a club chasing promotion not a premier league side. We don't have the luxury to spend big on potentially good players and wait for them to come good, we need good players now, and with the significant amount of money he costs, we could have got one or maybe two very good established players for this level. It's a ****ing good job we have Simpson and Aluko in fine form, because given the circumstances Proschwitz has been nowt but a failure.
For once I agree. Im wholly behind Bruce but if he signed Prosser knowing he'd take a year to get up to speed then we havent got the strength or finances to do that. We needed someone who could hit the ground running.
I'm sure he thought Proschwitz would have started his city career better than he has! Needs more minutes on the pitch though because thats the only way he is going to improve
