Is there much support for the mighty tigers to relocate? I am against relocation myself, I was just wondering how others felt about this. Is anyone actually keen on this idea. Most City fans I have spoke to are against, many have said they would not relocate their support. Hull City. Play in Hull. Stay in Hull.
isnt melton about 10 miles outside of hull? not exactly like wed be moving continents... wouldnt bother me, in fact even tho i live east of hull, would probably be quicker and easier to get too, straight down the 63..
There's no way it's in anyones interest to move to Melton. It does, however, strengthen allams position in negotiations if they can demonstrate a potentially viable alternative.
Hull city centre to Melton is less than ten miles. Which is academic, as we won't be leaving the KC. Though it would be interesting if a sport city was built at Melton without the ground moving, then everyone who voted against it in Hull could see what they ****ed up, every time they drive down the M62.
So Hull City football club play football in a purpose built football stadium in Hull and somebody builds a sports village in a village somewhere near Hull. You could be onto something there OLM, I'm slighty surprised nobody thought of that before.
Three problems: 1. The stadium is obviously the centre piece of the whole development and it makes less sense if there is no stadium(it would also prevent any potential stadium expansion). 2. The aim of Allam's is to give something back to the city of Hull, not to the village of Melton. 3. The Allam's aim of having the academy play their games on the pitches next to the ground, with the stadium a permanent reminder of what they are aspiring to achieve, is somewhat lessened if they can't actually see it!
It is not an empty threat, Melton makes sense, plenty of space, cheap, decent transport links. However it is only a fall back plan and a power play. If the council dont sell the KC we up sticks and go, under cut the KC rent and take FC with us leaving an empty stadium and the council looking stupid. Allam isnt stupid, he wants to stay in Hull, the fans want to stay in Hull, he wants go give something back but wants to protect his investment, so want as much leverage as possible. Empty threat, No, reality, the stadim will be bought and the Circle completely revamped
I would still support City whether they were located in Melton or remain at The Circle. It would not be in the best interest of the club to move to Melton, Mr Allam, needs to have a bargaining chip or the Council have him over a barrel. I personally am not in favour of consuming all of West Park for the Hotels etc, but would not object the Fairground being developed. This needs careful consideration though as I am of the understanding that this is common land as opposed to park land, and is if I am correct, then owned by the people of Hull, not the Council??? On the other hand though, if mr Allam has (think the figures are correct?) ã40m available to develop The Circle, but ã160m to develop Melton, does this mean if the approval is gained for The Circle, he will then invest the remaining ã120m into the Club and both Rugby teams? Just a thought......???????
I dont buy into this 'empty threat' concept. Mr Allam is too astute to lay a threat and not carry it through. If he has no intention of carrying it through, then it ceases to be any kind of a negotiating tactic! What's the point in having a nuclear deterent and not being prepared to use it!!!!!!!!
The cost of the Hull development is about ã100m, the cost of the Melton development would be about ã160m(as it obviously would include the extra cost of a stadium). There is no development of West Park, it's just on the Walton Street site and the waste ground around the stadium. Much of the money for the development would come from regeneration grants and Sport England, so if it doesn't go ahead, the money doesn't exist, so won't be available for the clubs.
so your main negotiating tactic in life is: " I have a powerful gun here. But don't worry I am never going to use it!!!" You sound like the kind of person I d like to do business with!!!! By the way, I have some prime building land on Sunk Island which I can offer you at a never to be beaten price. I think you should consider buying it. And dont worry, if you cant get the money, I also know someone who would be prepared to loan you the money at a very good rate!!!!!
To be honest I'm not up to speed with all this development talk.I live a stones throw away from where the Melton development would be, despite that I still think Hull City should play in Hull, end of. What I want to know is what are the plans for Hull fair should the West Park plan go ahead ? I'd dance a merry jig if the twatting thing was moved elsewhere( for reasons I'm not prepared to go into), or even better ****ed off all together. If it does come down to a referendum all the chavs would be up in arms if they thought their beloved fair was for the boot.Saying that they wouldn't bother voting so who knows ?
I'd dance a merry jig if the twatting thing was moved elsewhere( for reasons I'm not prepared to go into), or even better ****ed off all together. Me too! Can't stand the thing!
Can't be that hard to find it a new home, I've heard somewhere near between Kingswood and Branshome was identified as a potential site, or they could just stick it on East Park. As for Walton Street Market, it should just move to Hull Prison, saving the need for Trading Standards to get involved.
Hull Fair and wessies in white vans on a weekly wednesday market - litter everywhere afterwards on a sh8thole of a car park. Not a penny spent on it since I took levels on it for Birse as part of the stadium external works. Oh and they have only recently demolished the black tin shed on my lobbying for it to be pulled down along with the derelict pavilion near the gates to West Park on our promotion to the PL. The politicians just need a way out of selling the stadium to the Allams whilst still keeping face with their eggchasing supporters. The offer of building a sports village seems the perfect opportunity to me. Lets not forget the Council were crapping themselves about having to maintain their ã43.5m investment before Adam set up the SMC and saved them from having to find additional annual revenue monies. The fact that the Council hasn't 'made' anything from leasing the stadium to the two clubs could have been much worse.
