âI think in Giggs we saw a player of absolutely unbelievable proportions in terms of playing the 120 minutes at 39 years of age next month. âItâs a credit to himself but itâs also an example to every player on that pitch, including the Chelsea players.â So Chelsea players should feign injury and pull out from Internationals at any given opportunity and sleep with their brother's wives should they? Before the United fans spit the dummies out I'm aware his comments are in regards to fitness and his longevity in the game but using Giggs as an example in anyway is poor showing. I'd expect RDM to be laughed out the house if he said JT is an example to every player on the pitch, including the United players. Secondly, Fergie claiming his side were "too young" to see out the result. Here are the ages of the respective Starting XI's. Bear in mind even the younger United players like Welbeck, Anderson, Rafael, Nani and Hernandez have made dozens of appearances for United please log in to view this image
I think what ferguson meant was for Giggs to be an example in terms of his fitness and playing the best of his ability despite his age. There was no question about his behaviour on the social or domestic front. As for wales, many players do stp playing for their national side in order to prolong their club careers. So nothing controversial there. As for the side being too young, it was inexperience as well as age. Chelsea's top players are young but United's are older and their young players tend be more inexperienced and not part of the first team set up as Chelsea's. Nothing controversial or wrong in what he said
He said it as in his performance and playing 120 minutes at 39. As for the second bit he was talking about his defence, he was saying that it's easier to get away with younger players in attack because they're not going to cost you a game if they mess up. On the second one I'm not sure I agree with him and definitely don't agree with him saying it to the cameras but he wasn't saying what you thought. Terms like "playing the kids" will appear misused if you take it too literally but essentially what most people mean is that it's a side of inexperienced and unfavoured players. If you look at the subs brought on I think it shows the differing intentions well. Fairplay to RDM though he took the game more seriously and wanted to win more which is always good to see in the cup.
I acknowledged what sm1thy and YV have said earlier in my post but nonetheless IMO it's a silly example. A better example would have been Darren Fletcher who battled through a career-ending and life-threatening illness to return to play 120 minutes of football. In my eyes, that's far more admirable. As for the players games are won and lost in midfield. I'd expect players like Anderson, Nani and Fletcher to be able to retain the ball and know when/when not to attack etc. Watch Barcelona and you won't see one player that doesn't try to defend. You should defend from the front in my view.
Rafael Anderson Giggs Hernandez fletcher Wellbeck have made more appeances for Unitd than Berttrand Cahill luiz azpilicueta Romeu Moses piazon and even Studge and mata for Chelsea. And that's without counting giggs
I think there are many, many better examples of proving that Mr.Ferguson is a hypocritical, ignorant, pig headed, abusive, delusional, toy thrower out of pram, thoroughly nasty piece of disloyal work with little or no class. Your choice of this one does you no favours. Now carry on discussing how the hell in a matter of 10 months you've gone from being totally .... to (and it hurts me) the team playing far and away the best footbll in the Prem. Question - You imploded after the magnificent and totally deserved thrashing against 9 men against us last year - Primarily for you know what - How do you think bringing up you know what again will affect you this time? I trust someone on high has had a very quick total cost of ownership on this one because it can only be negative for you in the long run.
I've had 2 MUFC fans banging on all day about how they trotted out their young and inexperienced team last night. Delusional!
Others will have different opinions but for me the implosion happened after Arsenal (the following game). The QPR game was just a freak and controverisal game but the 5-3 against Arsenal was where we were tactically exposed in a brutal manner. From then on everybody worked out how to play us and our form was just abysmal from then onwards.
The arsenal game and then the west brom game were the ones that showed Avb up. Losing 1-0 9 v 12 we could forgive AVB that
