If you could get one or the other, but not both, which would it be? Promotion to League 1 (not necessarily as champions) or an FA Cup run, to at least the quarters (but not winning it), where Pompey spend the season in mid-table obscurity for most of it?
Has to be promotion this year, the alternative doesn't bear thinking about. Another year like last one would be pretty demoralising - it would mean the wrong manager with the wrong players. Don't think I can go through another year like last.
Each game as it comes, but why not try some new ideas in cups we obviously have no chance of winning. We could have a right go at the paint pot though, you never know.
Promotion for me please. Via a play off final at Wembley would be a good day out. Cup run would be nice, but definitely promotion to Division One.
promotion would be my choice.......like others.......but trying to be a realist I cant help thinking we are in that pre season, season start jitter that gets us all excited........only to be blown back by some dismal displays on the pitch. I am more confident this season than last with Awfs and co at the helm........but these players will need time to gel, to get to pace of the division and find a happy balance in the squad. There are a lot of positives coming out of the training camp and dressing room so hopefully we will see some good displays, the right results and be hovering around the play offs..........which for this club has to be the aim! A good run in a cup would be a good way of Awfs being able to utilise what is now a decent size squad, resting players where he can to keep them fit for the league. Looking forward to tonights game, being the first at home of the season
Okay, seeing as there's very much a consensus.... let's change it slightly.... Promotion and knocked out in the first round of each of the cups OR winning the FA Cup but spending the entire season in mid-table obscurity?
At this moment in time, for the club, I'd go for the money. You going to do a match thread for tonight?
The League is the bread and butter. I hope Awfs puts out strong sides for the Paint Pot though, as it's the one trophy we could have a realistic go at. Thing is, it we were to win it, what colour would you paint the town?
