So either Fleetwood 'Away' on Saturday 30th March or Rotherham at 'Home' on the Bank Holiday Monday, 1st April 2013. With us being Gillingham and MadDog at the helm what better day than at home on April fool's day. Four games before the completion of the season. Current maximum points available to each team and placed in their respective positions accordingly: Gills 104 Port Vale 102 Rotherham 97 Burton 92 Northampton 91 Exeter 91 Cheltenham 90 Southend 89 Fleetwood 89 As for the title well that will probably go to the final game of the season on Saturday 27th April, when we play current third placed Burton away, be nice to do it at home against AFC Wimbledon though on Saturday 20th April.
brb, I and everyone else will hold you personally accountable if we do not go up now. I can't believe you've made this thread. You've just gone and put a curse of the season. But I agree securing promotion and rubbing it in Evans' face would be SWEET!
brb under your mentor we used to say 'looks like we will be safe by easter!'. I think gushing praise for MA is in order....I'm listening??
Gemini - I believe it would take some mess up of monumental proportions not to achieve promotion now. So I thought it time some one had the balls to count it down. My points forecast since pre season had the biggest plus or negative at six points. We are currently at that maximum of plus six. IF we win against Oxford at home on Tuesday, we will have matched our previous maximum monthly points total achieved twice this season back in September & October. The only thing I could not predict is how other teams (promotion contenders) would fair during the season. Consistency is the word, other teams have to drop points in head to heads and not forgetting we are currently 10 points clear. Yes, we could do without the injury to Fish but as MA has proven during the season everyone is replaceable. I have felt for sometime Easter it could be. I just hope now I am right. Lenny - your just going to have to wait that little bit longer for that gushing praise, and wait, and wait, and wait...
That is rather a bold prediction brb and one so early that i hope you don't regreat putting out there, though i agree it's looking good. don't think i can handle going 1-0 ahead and then sitting back much more this season neither can Gillingham...surely ! though MA has stated he's happy to play negative football this season to achieve promotion and then add some flair next season to our game. note these coming dates because march 12th, 16th and 19th all in the space of a week and all away from home are the games we need to remember against Exeter, Morecombe and Rochdale. ones that will show what we are all about and map our path. it's without a doubt a very hard week on the road all over the country and if we pick up five, six or seven points out of those games...i'll be happy and should that happen, expect us to be almost there...dare i say it "Champions"
The most important game of the season happens on Tuesday. Home to Oxford. We have 8 wins at Priestfield so far. We need to be looking at making it 9.
We must be confident in promotion as our current form has picked up and we are averaging 2 points a game I believe? Having a quick look i believe we have only lost 2 games in 10 and not conceded in 5 of those games. I am sure if if I have got this wrong someone will let me know! I am confident that we can get 6 points over the next 2 games so this time next week we may well have 71 points and be on top form Come on you Gills
I would love a result Tuesday like all gills fans swift, but be it oxford are sitting mid table, i expect a hard game and not just because we are at home.
Every game is an important one now and none are easy, I have noticed that more because teams down the bottom cause a threat as they are trying to cause an upset and teams up the top want to beat you to overtake so this is not easy now at all. When you are top there is more focus put in by the teams to beat us so it will be tough but to get a few home wins is important now. We have 6 games left at home and I think we could win 3 or 4 of them which would leave us on a good amount of wins and with 4 out of 7 away from home we will be up because if we win 4 at home and 4 away then that would leave us with 89 points which is brilliant but you never know we may win more.
So, brb, you've obviously not been supporting Gills very long then? Especially not during the 70's & 80's when we regularly made a "mess up of monumental proportions"... I honestly can't believe a thread with this title has been put up...
You lot all worry to much, where is the faith? Look, let me put it quite simply...MA has no choice but to get us promoted now, anything else would mean him having to hear about my discussions on youth policy Any way you lot never noticed the disclaimer go back and read the original post a '?' is not a statement but merely a question
on a personal note I hope its not easter as Im off on holiday and cant be there so before or after please! however promotion is the name of the game and I will celebrate on holiday like I'm there if it is the case! so by brb maths we need 28 points to ensure promotion! ironically MA's prefered average age of the squad acording to the aforemention brb!
eh 28? Go away do your sums and think my youth policy and then come back with the right answer please 18
At the end of the day avoiding the play offs is paramount ( and I don't mean by finishing 8th for the third year running ) UTG!
bradford can get to 92 points right. therefore to ensure promotion we need to get to atleast 93 points. currently on 65 so need 28 more!! no maths error!
Quick question for anyone. I've done all my stats for all teams in the promotion places and those just outside. However, I seemed to have lost a Southend fixture! Are they awaiting a game to be rearranged, I can see 12 remaining LEAGUE fixtures which would only put them on 45 games? I've looked on their O/S as well.
