That's all we ever get from Captain Clogg and Jewell. We are now only a week away from the transfer window closing and all we have to show for it is yet another poor loan signing. Silly me! I was was expecting some transfer news today instead all I see is that we have let O'Connor go. I'm not sure that Clegg & Jewell actually know that we are deep in a relegation battle and that our very future as a significant football club is at stake.

You would think that they would actually be putting in decent bids for players rather than ****ing about with derisory offers. I appreciate that we should be careful with the amount we are offering but a £1 Million for TWO decent players is seriously taking the piss! Another week has gone by and we are still pissing about! Without some decent reinforcements in defense we are ****ed so why haven't we done the business? Why waste time with an offer for a young kid, not yet proven who we stand no chance of signing as a host of premiership clubs after him? Why put in abid of over £1 Million for this young kid and then offer £1 Million for 2 proven decent Defenders!

You bet, come this time next week we still haven't signed anyone and then we end up with another couple of cast offs that no one else wants! Great work Clegg and Jewell I hope you feel proud of yourselves for destroying this once great football club.

I knew this was going to happen JWM, if you look at my previous posts before the window started. The January transfer window is always difficult to do business in and looking through all the leagues there hasn't been much activity apart from loan signings or players out of contract!!

We do desperately need defensive reinforcements and if we don't have at least one CB in by the end of the month I will be pretty concerned. But deals often happen last minute, i just hope we don't pay over the odds for an average CB in the last few hours of the transfer window

Something is seriously wrong at this club at the moment. I miss the days of Sheepshanks, who was at all of our (home) games, and it felt like he was one of us. We were a very respectable "family" club, where players wanted to come to, and be proud of playing for a relatively big club. But, we are now the laughing stock of all 4 divisions, no one wants to play for us, a youngsters are leaving for nothing, and not getting the experience they need to fulfill their careers. I really don't know what the answer is, other than Evans and Clegg leaving, and letting someone else have a go. it really is very depressing at the moment, and i seriously do not look forward to saturday afternoons anymore. I even have been more excited about looking at Stevenages results now, as opposed to ours...thats how bad it is for me now.
    RIP ITFC!

Other clubs seem to be able to do deals without any problems so why can't we? Surely this is down to the failings of management at the top.

It makes me laugh that Forest are considering a 500k bid for Wes Morgan from Leicester, why the hell aren't we getting in there with a bid for a reasonable championship centre half! I think cleggy is to used to shopping at Tesco, because he always seems to put in buy one get one half price offer, look at the coppinger and sharp offer in the summer.

And as for our wonderful loan keeper, seems like he loves every single championship club except the one that is paying his wages at the moment.

If it was so good there, **** off back as far as i'm concerned!

I think any possible deals are always reported very early on these days, so often nothing will come of them or sometimes they will be just rumours, don't get your hopes up until a player is being shown round the Club.

Why the **** are we degrading ourselves with these stupid ****ing loans from other clubs! This has never been the Ipswich way of doing things EVER! We must face the harsh truth that Ipswich is now a ****ing joke of a football club with the whole football world laughing at us! Our once great name has been destroyed by these clowns.

Agree Weighty. I have never known such 'mountains out of molehills' such as those that are shown on this board recently. Nobody knows how much the bid was for. Neither club has confirmed a £1m bid, it was just a rumour ffs.
Pompeys potential new owner is RUMOURED to have said the current wage bill is unsustainable and players will need to go. If this RUMOUR is true then they may have to get rid of who they can in order to balance the books at a price lower than they would like
They may prefere that to be a high earner but in a similar situation to some Town players if nobody will take them your stuck with them and may have to switch your attention elsewhere
Our fans moan when we have a starting offer rejected but also moan when we pay decent money for players. I seriously think we have some 'fans' who actually love to hate the club.
If anyone had of said 12 months ago we would have got Chopra for £1m, everyone would have laughed but it appears some fans would rather have bid £3m for him rather than testing the water with a low bid, which was accepted.

We got Chopra for a £1 Million because it turns out that Cardiff wanted rid of him and it did strike me as some what strange at the time that no other club had put a bid in for him! As it transpires we have bought yet another dud!

JWM, I agree but the point I was making was that everybody said he would go for millions. We obviously put in a low bid which was accepted. If it had been rumoured in advance that we were only bidding £1m for him, without knowing any details, then there would of been an outcry that we were trying to get him on the cheap.
Nobody knows the true situation at Portsmouth, nobody knows how much our bid was and nobody knows what Pompey value them at so why is everybody having yet another go at the club.
The only FACTS we know are that we put in a double bid that was rejected because if fell below Pompeys valuation.

The whole point is that given we are in a desperate situation we shouldn't be ****ing about and should just get on and do the deals. Other clubs seem to able to get their business done and all that will happen at this rate will be a couple of short term loans in the hope to get us through.

JWM, does have a point guys, why the **** are we using up transfer window time by putting in "joke" bids for players, we then have to go back in a few days later with another bid then another bid then...oh, thats 3 weeks of the window gone then...!
What have we got to show for it....a loan keeper that on first appearances does not look as good as ALB.....nice one.!

Thats bullshit JWM and Im sure you know it as well
If you look there has hardly been any transfer activity at all during this window. its averaging about 5 deals a day for a total of well over 100 clubs and that includes loans. According to BBC there has only been 8 actual transfer to championship clubs in this window
The only difference between Town and every other club is that you read lots of sources that rumour Towns activities and probably none of any other clubs. A lot of these sources also know **** all about what is happening and are nothing more than pure speculation.
Some deals take time, some will be known about, as in this case when Portsmouth came out with the fact. If it wasnt for that some of you would still be convinced we were in for the pair from Swindon, which is actually where all this crap started. Some will be a total surprise and you will be amazed that it actually happened.

Isn't about time that Evans flexed his so called financial muscle and ensured that we get the players that we need? We just don't have the time to keep fannying around like Hoppers says! Its always smoke and mirrors at this club!

No, its the fact that the internet reports a load of crap and a lot of people use it as 'truth' to aim their annoyances at the club. An unknown bid has been rejected - it happens alot in football.

Agree this is just a ridiculous argument. Is there one transfer apart from Cahill's that stands out in the whole football league from this window, no not really!! The only real deals being done are loans or for players who are unattatched!!

January if I recall is always a dissapointing window, apart from the ridiculous last minute deals which are done where teams pay completely over the odds for players. I'm quite glad we are taking a more cautious approach as a club to transfer, as in previous seasons look who we've ended up with, we payed over the odds for nearly every player, Priskin £1.7million, Martin £2 million, Edwards £2 million, Norris £2 million, Leadbitter £2.5 million. It seems we are being a little more savy now, hopefully it will pay off in the next week or so.

JWM you are a journalists dream!!

If you took your head out of your own arse for a moment you will see that there are quite a few deals being done. Take the Norwich move for Howson from Leeds. I have to hand it to the budgies! Once they identify a target they don't **** about making numerous offers they just go and get them. <ok>

Perhaps you might wanna look up there, it might make you talk less crap!!

And how do we know that Norwich don't make numerous offers for players?? It is a good deal for them though
So Norwich and Chelsea have signed a player this transfer window, other than that there's no other deals really of note. Sorry if I can't see how there are quite a few deals being done must be because me head is up my own arse!!

there has hardly been any business so far, though that may change of course. most deals tend to get done on the final day when there is a roundabout of moves, but in the main, nobody sells their best players* during january and why should they! if you want players badly enough you have to pay through the nose for them and you can't do that - thats why managers and clubs don't tend to purchase during this period, its usually loans. the problem is, you got left with so many areas which need new players that you are all worried that jewell isn't rushing about trying to perform miracles in a short space of time!

of course its not what you want to hear, but its quite likely you will only end up with maybe one or two players, possibly on loan again, or maybe one permanent - thats arguably the best you can hope for as its the same with everyone, well, except for qpr of course - and they haven't actually signed anyone yet - they are all talk!!

I forgot ptc you are one of the "sit tight and hope things turns out alright" merchants! Sorry to give you a reality check bud but without some decent players coming onboard during the next 10 days we are ****ed. The big problem is we have dumb and dumber as our management team! <doh>
