Typical of QPR's player strategy, the future's unclear; but here's my thoughts of the latest squad movements at W12 with a fortnight to go.

I think there's going to be some activity in the coming week, but there's a lot of irons in the fire at the moment with the usual jostling, instigated no doubt by the greedy agents that know full well that the longer they hold out, the better the deal for the player; and them!

Here's who I think / hope we will be signing:

    Jordon Mutch - Cardiff City - £5m
    Kolbeinn Sigþórsson - Ajax - £5m
Mauricio Isla - Juventus - £1.2m season loan with £8.8m transfer option

There's a couple of others that I think could come off, I hope that they do, but think that they're unlikely.

    Leroy Fer - Norwich City - £5m
    Troy Deeney - Watford - £10m

A lot depends on what happens to Adel Taarabt and Loïc Rémy and whether they can leverage a move away from W12.

Both have 2/3 years to run on their contracts at £65k - £80k per week that is putting off most clubs; especially those mid to top end clubs abroad that have more modest salary budgets compared to the EPL.

By all accounts Tony Fernandes' needs to balance the books - and if these two players left the club, then that would at best demonstrate his intent to meet FFP regulations, not that I believe they will be enforced without a legal challenge. Barcelona have set a precedence already in regard to challenging transfer embargoes.

My preference would be to retain these two players and their prodigious talents; but I have a suspicion that their primary desire is to play for a club with higher ambitions than EPL survival this season.

That said, I would be delighted to see Mr Happy Feet feeding Monsieur Rémy on 16 August; but I am mindful that the saga does not end there. As there's a further two weeks thereafter; so akin to the speculation that surrounded the future of Joey Barton last season, we will only know for sure once the 'transfer deadline has slammed shut' [copyright Jim White / SkySports :)] at 23:00 on 01 September.

I am both pragmatic and a little concerned. I think that we have an average squad with very little creativity and are short on genuine fire power upfront. I think some of our vulnerabilities will be exposed and with a lack of attacking threat I worry that 0-0 at home will be perceived a good result. I can see teams working this out quickly, playing a high line and pressing us for errors.

Even more reason to retain the likes of Adel Taarabt and Loïc Rémy who will give opposition teams something serious to think about.

Wishful thinking, but I'd love to see both stay and cement a mid table position - say 12th or 13th. What's more, it would be great to have an expectancy of the unknown. As the past has shown, they both have the ability to amaze with sublime skill and breathtaking goals.

It is after all an entertainment business and I think we're owed a bit more of that, especially after being fed on a diet of prosaic football last autumn.

    COYRssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good post, buddy.

I personally don't think Adel staying is a positive with the other players but you've taken the time to write this post and I just wanted to acknowledge it.

Yup, loads of "ifs" and "buts" and "maybes"

Your list of players we are being linked with can all strengthen our squad.

Still feel there will be 2 or 3 last minute loans coming in, on top of the permanents transfers.

So, interesting days, but trying not to get impatient, it takes time !!

It seems Adel is caught in a game of 'wait and see' by Milan. They apparently want to sign him on the cheap and are waiting till probably deadline day before making a move on the premise that no-one else wants him. If, for whatever reason, it falls through and he stays with us I have a feeling his motivation will be rock-bottom as a result.

Ideally, if both Adel and Remy were really committed it would be greatly to our advantage to keep them but if we're the last resort for both it could prove disastrous for all concerned. I'd prefer Harry to give them a short deadline to make their minds up...

Agreed, both Remy and or Adel really do need to make their thoughts known, sooner rather than later.

Not just a matter of the players making their mind up.

Depends what other clubs are prepared to offer us for them, players sometimes can appear like "pawns" in the transfer circus.

Refuse to sell Taarabt and Remy imo. Their chance to leave has gone - they have had two months to sort something out. Now they should remain with us as its too close to the season to let them leave imo.

Unfortunately we do not have that luxury with Remy due to his "buy out" clause, which puts the club in a precarious position;Do they risk Remy staying or do they spend relatively big on another striker with big wages and hope Remy departs?

Actually sku the real progress update is simply: a) partial clear out achieved but still some deadwood left; b) two central defenders acquired but this wasn't really our priority area c) two want-aways who can't actually leave because of their ludicrous contracts and a third who is not as in demand as he thought and d) nothing but rumours.
