On Monday 27th at 9 pm (or 7.30 in Scotland) The Queen: A Passion for Horses The programme includes some footage of the Queen inspecting this years foals at Sandringham
Should be a good one. Channel 4 are also showing a documentary about the 1913 Derby at 8pm tomorrow night, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of suffragette Emily Davison throwing herself in front of the King's horse. In reality, it was pure coincidence that she was hit by the King's horse, she would have had no idea where the horses were in the field as she ducked under the rail.
It was very good, just a shame about so much John Warren! Plus, I was in it! I was in the background in the paddock at Newbury as Hayley Turner and Michael Bell walked through
I enjoyed both documentaries, both were interesting and informing. The one about the queen was very BBC and brilliant because of it, I even called that they would have Monty on (he must have a contract to appear in any horse documentary shown). Clare did a great job and I really warmed to the Queen's racing tradition because of the documentary. The C4 one was more gimmicky but still interesting because of its subject matter, the use of GIS was also appealing to my geeky side. Not as good as the beeb though.
