First up, apologies if this has happened before. As we all become acutely aware during transfer periods and rough spells, there are lots of ways of thinking about things. I was just curious as to whether those schools of thought would be related to similar jobs - could kind of make sense! As well as that, I wouldn't mind getting to know some of you better. Feel free to ignore me or say I'm talking complete gibberish. I'll start: I'm a Mathematics and Marketing student with a background in Search Engine Optimisation.
I'm a Bus and Coach Driver. Used to work for First Bus in Norwich, now working for Southern Vectis on the IOW.
I'm the Manufacturing Manager at a Plastics company in Redruth. I did my apprenticeship at Jarrolds Printers in the 60's. Moved to NZ where I became the National Secretary of the Printers Union. Came back to England during the Maggie era so had to move to Cornwall to find a job. Technology devasted printing and we were all made redundant in the 90's. Moved to my present employer when they required somebody to run their printing side and progressed to Manager.
I'm a Higher Performance Analyst for London's second largest employer (though maybe not for much longer the way these Tory scumbags are going) and it's is the only organisation I have ever worked for after leaving uni at the back end of the 90's. Basically give me a spreadsheet full of numbers and figures and I'll knock you up some pivot tables and charts before you can say "Ulf Ottosson nicked my Land Rover".
Trained as an English teacher mid 70's but went back to my old job in oil exploration for a couple of years. Then started my own business.I have run a garage ever since.
I'm currently studying for an MA in Political Science. I graduated initially in 2011, worked for Aviva for a year to save up and am now back up in Manchester studying. I'd like to end up working for a Think Tank but it is an incredibly difficult area to get into.
It used to be, but I can assure you that for the past couple of years it really, really hasn't been Mustn't grumble too much though, it pays the bills whilst simultaneously gives me the opportunity to spend large chunks of my day on Not606 - which can never be a bad thing
I'm a Regulatory Affairs Officer specialising in North Africa & Middle Eastern region, a lot of my job revolves around working out ingredient functions, making sure packaging is compliant and that we meet the required legislation of countries we operate in. If you told me 10 years ago that I'd be doing a job like this I would laugh at you as I always thought I'd do something creative.
Blimey, I have to say I can't really compete with most of you guys. I design and sell bathrooms for a leading plumber's merchant !
dont sell yourself short kickitoff! I doubt many of us could design a bathroom! Some of you guys have some seriously interesting jobs.
Day service officer (behaviour specialist), working with adults with complex and special needs. I got a right ribbing today off some of our service users after the weekends result.
I worked backstage on the remake of the film "Memphis Belle" and all the "FX" crew had T-shirts with the caption, "**** the dialogue, let's blow something up!"
