....... what's this all about? We were on our way to Edinburgh, the other week, and stayed in a lovely 'farmhouse' B&B in Northumberland. It was perfect ..... fantastic views, great room and a wonderful breakfast. The only thing that spoiled it was the owner who never shut up about being a Geordie, his accent, his 'heritage', etc etc etc. He couldn't have laid the accent on any thicker and was shoe-horning 'Geordie words' in even if they weren't appropriate. The last few we've met, up that way, have been pretty much the same. This one wasn't a football supporter and I know there are many Sunderland supporting Geordies so it's not an anti-NUFC thing this time. I can understand the professional 'professional Geordies' like Jimmy Nail, Cheryl Cole, Sting because they're paid to act the part ...... even if they only lay the accent on when it suits them. But the unpaid amateurs seem to have been gripped by the need to be a '24 carat Geordie' 24 hours a day. When did all this start? Perhaps it hasn't and I've just been unfortunate to bump into the wrong ones recently ..... has anyone else noticed a change recently?
Me too mate but my family, on me Dad's side, were from Northumberland ....... so I have mixed emotions tbh. The PG's seem to believe they're the only people from the North East.
That's it, I know it's for a good cause but f** me it's s**te. They do a Singing one too and it's even worse from the 2012 one Performances from Gavin Webster and Joe McElderry, who sings "Big River" and "Nessun Dorma". Mike Neville introduces a AWP based around King Arthur. Tim Healy sings "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" with Lorraine Crosby, the female vocalist from the original Meat Loaf recording. Healy also performs "With a Little Help From My Friends". The concert concludes with an ensemble performance of "Run for Home". WTF!?! Dare I say it, it all seems a bit inbred. Like Newcastle is a stand alone state and this is the culture

Dear God, that's just what I'm talking about!!!! They all deny they were sucked into the whole 'Geordie Nation' s**te but it seems to have lived on like a malignant hibernating germ. I was brought up to be a Geordie, and called myself a Geordie, until John Hall changed the terms & conditions and I renounced my membership. Like Vince, I suspect, I know call meself 'Durham' .... it sits well with me.
Why don't you save yourself the bother and stay at Hendon next year, or some other ****ing ****hole in the garden of mackem.
Next year? BTW, I'm more Geordie than you are bonny lad I'm not a Mackem and have no wish to be thought as one.
For whichever brainless gimp left the 'Mag obsession' tag "This one wasn't a football supporter and I know there are many Sunderland supporting Geordies so it's not an anti-NUFC thing." I didn't realise how many thick people were hiding on this forum tbh.
So, Cheryl Cole, Jimmy NailL and Sting lay the accent on, even though they're actually Geordies? And this farmer who lives in northumberland actually says Geordie phrases? Jesus, what's the world coming to? You're more a Geordie than me you say. Are you sure? You know where I was born or brought up? I've never called you a mackem. That's a derogatory term.
I didn't say you called me a Mackem, but why would I want to sleep in a Mackem's garden? When I'm up I stay with family it Chopwell or friends in South Shields. No idea why you're getting so wound up about Geordies tbh .......... are you a Geordie?
I don't get wound up about Geordies, only your thinly veiled attack on Newcastle. Don't insult me by saying "I don't know what you mean".
