Can't see us paying a fee and why should we? It's not as if we're short in mid field and there are plenty of out of contract available, if we do need cover there.

If he is free then maybe, but i do not think we should be spending any of our limited transfer budget on bringing him back, I would rather the money ( if we have any ) be spent on central defence or a stiker to partner Cody. I actually did not see what all the fuss was about during his time with us, yes he was a good midfield player, but there must be others available for less that are of the same quality. I understand that other people may feel he is a local lad and may have the Gills at heart, thus getting better performances, but this didn't stop him from wanting to leave in the first place.

I remember when he signed for Peterborough their Chairman saying they had got the best young mid fielder outside of the Championship. I wonder what went wrong

love to sign Payne back. Who cares if there is a fee as long as its less than Posh paid us for his services. He is quality for this league.

I think the last sentence is a little unfair. He had already committed himself to us way beyond expectations. Can't remember who allowed him to go in the first place, was it MA...enough said if so.
