Today I see Puncheon is back in the news, having openly criticised chairman Nicola Cortese on Twitter. To make matters worse the article using his quotes is at the forefront on the BBC sports page: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16678939.stm .

Following his agents comments suggesting that Saints were demanding too much money for the out of favour striker it seems that both are keen to engineer a move, however with clubs on tenterhooks in the knowledge that Puncheon wants to leave this will lead to paltry bids for the want-away player, who is clearly talented.

Clearly while he is at the club he will continue to draw negative press and undermine the management, but if we sell him what precedence does it set that one players will can overcome the club.

So in this situation, how would you resolve it?

Still a week left of the transfer window, we've made it clear our asking price is £1m. If there are clubs seriously interested in him, as his agent claims, we should wait for them to realise they won't get him for peanuts and make a serious offer. Personally if we were to get a bid of £800k plus I'd let him go.

Two week fine for public dissent as well, obviously.

I had never realised one man could be such a monumental moron before. To think I said we should give him another chance...Nicola you were right, I humbly apologise.

The issue is that if we do not get rid of him he will continue to be disruptive, but as a result we are giving in to his wishes and clubs will try to get him cheap, so it could be a lose-lose situation.

Despite some people on this board hoping that a reconciliation could be possible, after those latest comments there is no way that is going to happen. So unless he is sold, he won't be playing for anyone, as Saints want rid of him permanently, not on loan. In August 2011 his Market value was £875,000 ( http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/jason-puncheon/mwverlaufgraph/spieler_47995.html) so unless someone gives us that or he is part-exchanged for someone we want, he will have to rot in th U21's until his contract is terminated. Very unfortunate for everyone concerned, but Saints can't let a valuable asset like him go for less than his value.

This sounds a good idea but then you think his attitude may rub off on future youngsters he is alongside. Perhaps we should keep him on contract but only let him train in isolation.

I'd be tempted to call his bluff and play him. He would need to put in a major performance to attract bidders. Could be a win win for saints.

Problem is if he plays for us FIFA regulations dictate that he cannot play for another team this season.

If we play him in the first team he can't be sold until the end of the season as he will have played for two teams already. Them's the rules. Once this window is over Nigel and Nicola might think again, as we couldn't sell him then, so a loan might then be an option.

The current problem is that no club seems to want to put in a transfer bid for him. It is sad that it has become so debased. The only offers appear to have been loan offers from West Ham and Blackpool. When I think about it now; I am not so sure that the West Ham offer was a wind-up in any case; just to cause disruption in Saints - or is that a conspiracy too far?

At present, I feel that any offer that gets him out of the club and off the pay-roll has to be a good thing. That £500K that Millwall offered a couple of years ago is (sadly0 looking good value now...

Good point I'd forgotten that. Looks like he may be waking up next to a horses head then!

Oh dear Jason, double negative, means you are going. Bye and good riddance.

Terminate the gobsh1te's contract. It might cost a bit, but it will seriously dent his reputation, which would be quite satisfying. You don't **** with the Don and expect to get away with it.

But then he has won and he pockets a load of cash and could end up playing for a rival Championship team. I doubt most clubs would care about his past, people still want El Hadj Diouf...

Don,t know where you get the figure of £500,00 from Millwall. I believe the bid was half of that; Millwall are in no position to pay half a million for anyone!
There is no way Puncheon is going to get the better of Nicola Cortese - he will win.
Bear in mind, Saints are not desperate for this money & on a point of principle NC will let him rot before going against his principles.
Puncheon has fk up big time & simply cannot keep his big gob shut.

We won't be after his latest outburst, he'll get fined at least 2 weeks wages.

Give him a game, then terminate his contract.

Is he dumb enough to keep tweeting about this every two weeks so we can fine him the value of the rest of his contract?
