Local news this morning on telly - First story (something like) - Random woman from Peterlee reminisces about travelling to London after Diana's death. Second story - About some tragic girls recent death in South Shields.
It seems to have been missed by the media but this, was a married woman albeit not happily sneaking about swanky hotels in Paris for a bit of rumpy with her rich boyfriend. Princess of hearts, what a load of bollocks, these stories make my stomach turn over. You'd think nobody else had ever lost their mother in their childhood, hate the media in this country.
Can't stand these people who say how they loved her and so criticize the paparrazi --- yet it was those same people who fuelled the demand for photos as they bought the papers and magazines because they wanted to see every second of her life.
The British Public seems to have a collective attack of adoration from time to time. Diana wasn't the first but she was the most recent. The bit I could never understand was the vast number of people who thought that The Queen, and for that matter Prince Charles needed to 'do things'. Come to London. Haul flags up, or down. Simple question. After a rather acrimonious and very public divorce where the ex-wife won every PR battle, would you expect any ex husband to consider he had any responsibilities, other that to his children. And what would you expect of the former in-laws apart from being concerned about their grandchildren. A lady full of contradictions, my admiration started to nosedive after ONE OF her favourite dressmaker's was murdered by his boyfriend and her comment was that this was the worst thing that ever happened.
On Sky News yesterday her death was referred to by Tania Bryer as our JFK moment, as in almost everybody remembers where they were when they heard the news. No idea if thats true or not but I do. As for expecting any ex-husband to consider his responsibilities, he wasn't just any ex-husband. Heir to the throne and his ex-husband was mother of a future king. The PR fall-out at the time was pretty bad. I seem to recall the flags at the palace weren't at half mast for a day or so because there was no one there to instruct the staff what to do.
Diana is no different from any other royal too me in fact probably worse. They all have access to things which could seriously help and change the world but that would threaten thier positions if the done it so they won't. At least the other ****s don't pretend to care like she did in order to carefully cultivate this 'just like us' image she got off on. **** the monarchy all of them
Point taken. But they did wake up. I didn't say I agreed with her by the way. I remember where I was when JFK was shot though. And I was 3!
Not a fan but I think they should let her rest in peace instead of bringing her up every so often at the drop of a hat. She deserves neither admiration or hatred. Just leave her alone.
