I listened to the above yesterday and a Bristol MP brought up the subject of a few people holding sway over redevelopment in the City and stopping the building of a new stadium and the loss of Jobs and investment that would entail. The MP also said that Bristol deserves good sporting facilities!! Yes I thought our plight has reached Westminster.
How p****d off was I when she then went on to say Bristol Rovers deserve to have their stadium built. No mention of the bigger better stadium that could have been built at Ashton Vale.

Just another MP in marginal seat who is using everything relating to her own constituency to promote her re-election.
And wearing a blue and white quartered shirt in the process.
She could not give a toss about stadiums, BRFC, just her future as a well paid MP.

We could have our stadium, but it would involve moving out of Bristol. It's simply the only way.

If I were Lansdown, I would seriously consider building on the land available near Keynsham. Tons of room for a new stadium there. Yes, the roads will need to be rebuilt to allow for more traffic, but it'll be a lot cheaper to build there, the increase in jobs would be welcomed in the area, and it'd be the biggest middle-finger the club could possibly raise to the council and mayor for their involvement in the Ashton Vale saga.

As a city we need to ensure that George ****ing Ferguson is NEVER re-elected.

I've also refused to patronise the Tobacco Factory since he was made Mayor

The simple solution is not the one we would all like but be the best for both clubs in the future for our kids and theirs etc.
We put the Rugby back at the Memorial
Sell Ashton Gate to Sainsbury's who then sell the Sainsbury's nearby for housing.
We put the money into UWE with Rovers and build a Stadium to share.
If we built AV and they built UWE then if there was a big concert etc that will always go to UWE simply because it has the transport links with good motorway access and Parkway Abbeywood train stations. So any future things that we thought we could tag onto our new AV ground will be gone.
As I said no one will like it at the moment, we ain't moving to their home and they ain't moving to ours.
But the sustainability of the two merging now would benefit the future of both clubs.
    One rent
One set of workers working more than once every two weeks

We would never get Keynsham as the council would be liable for roads etc that they could not justify.

Sit on our arses and miss this opportunity which won't come round for another 100 years could benefit both clubs finances moving forward.

Take off our Bristol City and Bristol Rovers caps and think about the long term plan for the City of Bristol to finally move forward.

Ground sharing is good enough for AC and Inter Milan. We should go for it!

Couldn't agree more! Whether we like it or not, it has to be the way forward in this day and age.
