Read the big match preview before City travel to Ashton Gate to the Robins...

    Venue: Ashton Gate

    Kick-off: 7.45pm

    Date: Tuesday, February 4th

    Competition: Skybet League One

Coventry City travel to Bristol City looking to get back to winning ways after a recent defeat by Leyton Orient.

The Sky Blues had the weekend off as their League One home match against Walsall was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch

City go into the game against Steve Cotterill's side looking for a repeat of the dramatic 5-4 win over the Robins earlier in the season at Sixfields.

    Overview

Bristol City were looking to bounce straight back to the Championship this season, but have found themselves in a relegation battle.

Former Nottingham Forest and Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O’Driscoll strengthened his side throughout the summer, making the Robins strong favourites to gain promotion this season.

O’Driscoll brought in eight new signings, including former Arsenal striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, ex-Swindon defender Aden Flint and former Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood but the team struggled to gel.

With results dwindling, O'Driscoll was relieved of his duties in November and another former Forest manager Steve Cotterill took over.

They climbed out the drop zone at the weekend with a 2-1 home win over Carlisle United as Marvin Elliott notched a quickfire brace.

    Head to Head

There have been 62 meetings between Bristol City and Coventry City, with the first match being a 0-0 draw in October 1919.

Even though 94 years have passed since the first meeting, City are only one win ahead of the Robins in the record books with their being 21draws in the 62 meetings.

    Last five fixtures

11/08/2013 Coventry City 5-4 Bristol City, League One

09/04/2012 Bristol City 3-1 Coventry City, Championship

26/12/2011 Coventry City 1-0 Bristol City, Championship

05/03/2011 Coventry City 1-4 Bristol City, Championship

18/09/2010 Bristol City 1-2 Coventry City, Championship

    Connections

    Jon Stead

The former Blackburn striker spent three years with Bristol City before moving to Huddersfield Town in the summer.

The 28-year old has been somewhat of a journeyman throughout his career. Whilst at Ipswich, Stead sealed a loan deal to Coventry and made ten appearances for the Sky Blues, scoring two goals.

After the loan spell ended, Bristol City sealed his signature on a free transfer where he signed a three-year deal with the club. Despite a few injury problems, Stead made 79 league appearances for Bristol, scoring 20 goals.

He moved to Huddersfield in the summer on a free transfer but after struggling to break into the side, he is currently on loan at Oldham.

    Michael McIndoe

The 33-year old midfielder enjoyed good spells at both clubs with him building the reputation as a very good Championship play-maker.

McIndoe spent a lot of his early career in the lower leagues with Yeovil Town, Luton Town and Hereford United. He began to show his true qualities at Doncaster Rovers with him the driving force behind their push for promotion to the second tier.

    McIndoe

After a short stint at Barnsley, Wolverhampton Wanderers signed him but he failed to settle at the club so he moved to Bristol City.

Playing his best football since his stay at the Keepmoat, McIndoe adhered himself to the Bristol faithful and he made 90 league appearances for the club. His form at Ashton Gate alerted the Sky Blues who signed him for an undisclosed fee and he performed well in his first season.

Injuries and fitness doubts got to him in his second year at the club and he was released in 2011 with him currently a free agent.

    Dangerman

    Sam Baldock

The 24-year old striker returns to the third tier of English football for the first time since his form at MK Dons earned him a move to West Ham United.

Having come through the ranks at MK Dons, he began to show prolific form in the 2008/09 season, scoring 13 goals in 44 league appearances.

    Baldock

He continued to improve and become a consistent first-team player in the League One promotion hopefuls. His form alerted the Hammers who signed him for an undisclosed fee in August 2011.

He struggled to get starts at Upton Park and was sold to Bristol City after one-year in London for £1.1 million. He scored 10 goals in 34 appearances last season and has carried on that form this season, notching 15 goals in 36 appearances.

If we could it would be a massive step towards survival IMO but it's not an easy game.

We could really aslo do without conceding first for a change as in the last 4 games. Keep it tight and you've always got a chance.
