PRESTON NORTH END v WATFORD Deepdale Saturday 20th August 2022 Kick Off: 1500 BST Well this is a novelty, a Saturday game kicking off at 3.00 pm, and it could be a very difficult game for us as Preston have yet to concede a goal. “They’re very well coached,” Edwards said. “They’ve had four clean sheets which indicates they’re very difficult to break down, but not only that, they’ve got a distinct way of playing, and some good footballers as well." Although everyone sees the attacking potential of our forwards, so far I am not sure if we know which combination will provide the goals. Hopefully Sarr and Pedro will not have had their heads turned, and will play to the potential we know they have. One person who will not be adding to his goal tally is Tom Cleverley who is sidelined for a couple of weeks with a calf injury that forced him off against Burnley. Yáser Asprilla made his first start in the same game, turning heads with his energy and creativity in midfield. Displaying maturity beyond his 18 years, his boss waxed lyrical about the young Colombian. Edwards added: “He proved himself against Burnley when he came on. In that game they were starting to press, and we went down to 10 men, so I worked out very quickly that we could trust him. I knew that before, I knew from training and pre-season but it was great to be able to see it in front of 20,000 people under difficult circumstances. According to the Preston official site this is a game that they cannot stream via their version of Hive, so I expect the same will apply to us, and we will be looking for a stream from somewhere. Our Referee please log in to view this image Experienced official Darren Bond will referee at Deepdale for the first time in almost two years on Saturday afternoon. Bond has taken charge of three Championship fixtures so far this season, showing 13 yellow cards.
COYH Yep, Preston haven't let a goal in yet. But, they've only scored 1 in 4 games as well. Might be a tight one this!
Will be unable to join you for the match as I am enjoying the thrills of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, will keep an eye on the score though. Enjoy the game all and hopefully we can breakdown PNE's defense.
And of course it will rumble on till the end of August . That said got the impression people wouldn’t be as disappointed if Sarr left as they would Pedro . It’s also a bit of a shame as it all leads to negativity around the club and the fan base. We might win today or play well but if we sell these 2 or Pedro alone they won’t care as their anger will be greater .
And , apparently, Pedro has a sore ankle. Hasn't travelled North. Are we surprised / alarmed/ delighted , or not fussed ?
Personally, not overly fussed. I value Sarr more, and would be worried if someone came in with a naughty bid for Asprilla.
Pedro missing today with ankle injury. Davis not deemed fully match fit. Sarr travelled but was always a doubt that he’d be fit to play after the injury sustained against Burnley
Good to see Pollock's name on the teamsheet - I hope he gets some game time - and not just two or three minutes at the end.
Looks like Kamara will be RWB and Ken Sema LWB again today!!! Why is it that we always seems to find a way to have square pegs in round holes?? Having Kamara in the right really does remove some of his potency going forwards! Think we may struggle today…
Anyone found a stream? I have been contemplating buying a Hive match pass as it's being broadcast in certain overseas countries, but I don't know if setting my VPN to Belgium will fool them...
