The Hornets blew the Robins away on Saturday to remain fourth, while Preston beat Blackburn Rovers away from home on Friday night to move up in the table to 11th place. Watford's victory over a very poor Bristol side was their biggest margin of victory in a league game since 1982 and meant they had scored as many goals in one game than they had in their previous five matches. At the other end of the pitch, Watford's clean sheet was their 14th of the season, and only Swansea City have conceded fewer goals in the Championship in 2020-21. The result continued the Hornets' impressive home record, but it has been a very different story on the road; they have won just three of 14 league away games this season and scored just seven goals – the lowest in the division, but at the same time, they have conceded the fewest away goals (nine). please log in to view this image Preston's Lancashire derby success against Blackburn was also their first win in four matches. Alex Neil's side put in a fantastic performance at Ewood Park and more results of that ilk could leave them in contention for the playoffs. The Lilywhites, though, have been one of the most inconsistent sides in the Championship and are currently seven points behind the top six; this week could prove pivotal in their hopes for the season with their next game away to Cardiff. Only Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City have picked up fewer points at home than Preston this season, who have won just four league games at Deepdale. please log in to view this image Watford won 4-1 in the reverse fixture at Vicarage Road in November – their first victory over Preston in the last five meetings. Preston North End Championship form: LWDLLW Watford Championship form: WWDLDW Both clubs will be on a high after their latest wins and keen to now put a run of good form together. Watford's new 4-3-3 system looks clinical and although their poor away record cannot be overlooked they must feel that things are turning around after some turmoil in the camp. From the Preston Match Thread. They are as tight as a Monkey's chuff away from home, don't score many but are hard to break down and under whichever manager it is this week will provide extremely tough opposition. Always rated Will Hughes and is was interesting to see that when his heavily deflected shot went in on Saturday he was mobbed by his team mates oviously a popular figure within the squad. Our home record needs sorting suspect this will be like a normal home game we'll get caught on the break and if Deeney gets to take a penalty it will be going down the middle at the rate of knots. Sadly the weather has improved much milder won't be Elton John weather, "It's a little bit chilly" 7 pm boot off on the red button on Sky, good news is have had my Astra Zenica jab so will be getting great 5G reception on this one.
If our front three keep on playing like they did on Saturday we may have to give them new nicknames in honour of Liverpools front three last season Mo Sarr, Sadio Sema and Roberto Pedro
Borrowing bits of my thread without permission, shameful, Morning guys hope you are OK here's the full thread, night games are always good at Deepdale I seem to remember esecially when they used to let us in, this behind closed doors malarkey is bobbins https://www.not606.com/threads/preston-north-end-v-watford-deepdale-16-2-2012.390543/
Shouldn’t be too many changes after a strong winning performance but can see Gray coming in for Pedro. They seem to alternate from game to game .
You should be worrying about Watfords potent attack, they might score a further 6 goals before the end of the season
please log in to view this image Deepdale where it's absolutely chucking it down - should be a slick surface tonight
That's my side of the ground I usually sit to the left but tonight watching cricket from the West Indies
Just the one change in the starting line up - Cathcart for WTE. No Deeney on the bench... please log in to view this image
Troy Deeney will be sidelined for a short period of time to allow a couple of niggling injuries to recover. You beat me BB. 1-0
Hopefully the same sort of performance as on Saturday but it's away and Preston do have a bit of form.
Not a stadium I've been to yet. Handsome in the photo, I must say. NW grounds are a particularly poor hunting ground (for Watford wins) for me - Man City, Utd, Liverpoo, neverton, Burnley - all invariably end in disappointment and burnley usually trying not to get into a punch up even after they've one -jesus christ fellas, it's not the early 1980's anymore, eh?! Only Bury and Wrexham have shown any sort of positive return and I've not been to Deepdale, Blackburn, Blackpool (many a time on holiday), Rochdale, Bolton, Tranmere... I did go to the most excruciatingly boring 0-0 between Morecombe and Macclesfield about 11 seasons ago, passing up on Blackpool's first EPL game that day (a 0-4 win at Wigan) whilst there for the weekend. Ho hum!
