I believe in the monarchy but don't agree that football be postponed tomorrow.
I was hoping to share and show my respect and gratitude to her majesty with my grandson and the City faithful.

Everyone agrees that respect needs to be shown - but furiously disagrees HOW.
Replicated across multiple topics and situations everywhere.

I am in support of the respect of the period of mourning and some of the sacrifices made. Many many people stop doing things, cancel things when a family relative dies or occassionally a dear friend! Loads of people take time off work for a day maybe 2 maybe more .... each to their own I guess some will reply!
I note you are against it ..... your choice.

    It’s crazy
Have a minutes silence by all means to allow people to show their respects but don’t can it.

But football of all levels is cancelled today right down to kids level
Presumably at the instruction of the FA themselves ?

It’s the fans of teams in all leagues who had booked hotels, train tickets and made arrangements to follow their team away from home over the weekend and who may not get their money back on non refundable bookings that I feel sorry for,, plus all of the other sporting occasions and events to go the same way such as the great north run which has also been cancelled

    What it is achieving ?

Would the Queen have wanted all of this to be cancelled in an already short football season due to the World Cup being held in a stupid location ?

    Of course she wouldn’t !

Play the game then people could choose to go, or not, as it is no one can choose, that’s the point. A minutes silence before the game and maybe sing god save the king or whatever. Other sports are going ahead, big muck up by football imo

We all have different opinions, but I actually think it was right to cancel games today... Lots going on through different Cities especially London.. Doesn't happen very often,, so be it,,

With everything going on, the police will be be stretched. Reading some comments on social media you can expect idiots ruining the minutes silence creating friction in large crowds.
I can understand why. But if the match was on, would I be going then the answer is yes I would.

that is being selfish to a degree, how about the % of players who are not foreign, but citizens of the monarch they dont get a choice with that thinking.
We get a football break twice a season for " international's " a club with a player involved, in the lower divisions can postpone games .... doing so now allbeit at short notice is difficult. It is being fair to all teams who may or not have players who would wish to

QUOTE="Angelicnumber16, post: 16135240, member: 1000386"]Presumably at the instruction of the FA themselves ?[/QUOTE] I think the relevant outside of the top 7 divisions were given the choice. Collectively the Prem and EFL DECIDED on top 4 [ maybe 7 divisions ]
It is not the supporters who go lacking because of the lack of activity that complain about it that is the only consideration. Those supporters who who have booked etc in the spirit of the moment should be refunded for money paid ......

personal choice, would you be happy with a loss maybe by 4 goals should BCFC line up without 5 of the main players missing? or feel elated/smug/ whatever other description might fit, should we win by 4 or more because the opposition 5 of their main players missing? AND YOU ARE RIGHT the liklihood of disrepectful boo boys couldnt be ruled out

I worked Friday and will do all next week, as will everyone else. Don’t see why football is any different, other sport going ahead also

yep it is your personal choice ... everyone handles a death differently ... there are some who didnt work, some who did, and some who likely did with a heavy heart and functioned less well ... hopefully there were no consequences to anyone who worked and functioned less well ....
Some other sports took time yesterday, I do not understand why the horse racing is over 3 days though dont follow it now maybe flat and jumps as queen was a keen supporter of both but why 3!

The FA called the game off as they did leagues throughtout the football pyramid. Quite right too. The FA are paying their respects due to a extraordinary moment, for a extraordinary women, historically and constitutionally.

Agree to differ, other sports are carrying on, theatres still open etc, I don’t see why football is any different, overreacted imo.
